Spencer Clarke Group are working alongside a Local Authority in South Yorkshire to appoint a Transport Planner on a 4-month contract.

As a successful Transport Planner, your duties will be:

Acting as client for transport schemes, ensuring projects are delivered to time cost and quality, including approving project plans, requesting changes, raising issues and risks, approving milestones, releasing payments, and accepting (or declining) the final deliverables of the project.
Drafting business case for submission to external funding partners for transport schemes in the Borough
Working with project managers to co-ordinate delivery of inputs into those business cases
Commissioning and overseeing external support where required in respect of modelling and appraisal as required for those business cases.
Commissioning and managing data collection, include the authority's suite of automatic traffic counters but also additional traffic surveys as may be required as part of projects or research
Production, checking and evaluating of junction modelling as part of development of RMBC schemes, and in respect of checking of third party proposals.

To be considered, you will have the following knowledge/experience:

Good knowledge of techniques for the assurance and appraisal of transportation projects, including TAG
Good knowledge traffic modelling techniques, in particular Junctions9. Knowledge of SATURN and microsimulation modes also a positive
Good knowledge of local, regional and national transport policies and strategies
Familiarly of automatic traffic counter systems, including Drakewell
Good knowledge and experience of local authority procurement processes and procedures

Hours: Mon-Fri 37 hrs
Location: WFH, with occasional visits to the office/site in Rotherham
