Team Leader

Applications are invited for the position of Team Leader/Ganger within our Highway Maintenance team.

Highways Maintenance is responsible for the construction and maintenance of all highways within the Leeds boundary together with Winter Maintenance operations.

The vacant post initially based at our Henshaw depot, although you may be required to work from either our Potteryfields and Seacroft depots.

This is a key operational role and as such you will be responsible for a small team engaged on a wide range of highway works including the excavation for and construction of, footways, carriageways and drainage works. Experience of working within a Highway environment with the ability to lead a small team of operatives is essential.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in both hand laid and machine laid surfacing materials, the ability to maintain accurate records and should be NRASWA trained.

Possession of a full driving licence is desirable. You must be reliable, enthusiastic and able to use your own initiative.

Duties for this post include a substantial amount of manual handling duties such as bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. An awareness of relevant health and safety issues would also be an advantage. You will also be expected to take part in winter maintenance operations.
