Job description

This position is based at our Tuscaloosa, Alabama plant. This is an excellent opportunity to start your career at GPI, and this role is in the HR talent pipeline for future growth and/or promotional opportunities. The desired candidate must be relocatable after 2 years to further their career for professional and personal growth.

* Administers and monitors all core aspects of the HR function at the plant level such as employment, compensation, employee relations, benefits, GPI Culture, training and employee services by performing duties listed below.
* Ensures consistent application of company policies, benefits, compensation guidelines, fair treatment of employees, training, recruitment, etc.
* Maintains compliance with Federal and State employment regulations.
* Oversees administration of the employee benefit programs, affirmative action, compensation, performance appraisal programs, personnel recordkeeping, HRIS, unemployment claims, etc.
* Manages payroll and reports for Salary NonExempt, Hourly and Temporary workers.
* Monitors plant staffing needs, including temporary labor.
* Manages all recruitment activities.
* Counsels managers and supervisors regarding employee relations issues, including investigations, corrective action, performance reviews, hiring and separation decisions and recommends actions which are consistent with corporate and local policies/values as well as applicable laws and regulations.
* Develops local HR polices.
* Works in conjunction with safety leader to evaluate local safety policies and procedures.
* Counsels and advises management and employees on policy interpretation.
* Manages local community/philanthropy efforts.
* Investigates employee relation issues such as employee complaints and harassment allegations, and recommends appropriate action.
* Manages FML, STD, ADA, bonus hours and safety calculations.
* Facilitates training of all HR policies annually and as required.
* Works closely with plant's Site Leadership Team (SLT) to link HR programs, practices and policies with business strategies and objectives (culture, core values, safety, quality, productivity, etc.)
* Responsible to ensure GPI Culture Development and Performance Management Systems are administered locally in accordance with corporate guidelines.
* Participates in developing departmental goals, objectives and systems.
* Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for Lean, 5S, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
* Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International's good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors and governmental agencies and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook and payroll processing.

Experience with SAP a plus.

Must possess strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws.

Must possess strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards.

Individual must be adept at analyzing and recommending solutions to a variety of problems and subjects.

Ability to work overtime (greater than 40 hours per week) and flexible schedules, as needed, to support employee events and meet with off-shift employees.

Required Experience

A Bachelor's Degree with 5-8 years of Human Resources Management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Thorough understanding of Human Resources policies and practices.
