Job description

FOODSERVICE DESIGNERS at Ideation Design Group are to assist their Foodservice Design Director in managing all aspects of the foodservice design scope of work within an applicable project. This includes a working collaboration with the architecture and interior design departments where applicable.

FOR PROJECT

  • Prepare complete set of construction documents which shall include:

  • Prepare an architectural base background in CAD and separate all foodservice scope into a separate base file from a preliminary SK foodservice plan when approved by a client.
  • Reviewing site visit documents and identifying any potential construction restraints and/or issues pertaining to foodservice equipment layout and individual equipment requirements.
  • Create foodservice equipment plan and revise as required using client menu, communications, project budgets and other requirements given prior to commencement of and throughout schematic design.
  • Correctly identify each piece of foodservice equipment with their corresponding tags using the KCL directory.
  • Identifying and understanding of ALL local health codes applicable to the project.
  • Create a full equipment schedule for each tagged piece of equipment in excel format using the KCL catalogue.
  • Produce preliminary foodservice budget estimates, as necessary, using the Auto Quotes software program.
  • Produce foodservice utility plans for all electrical, plumbing and special conditions requirements for each project.
  • Create detailed elevations and, when necessary sections, of all foodservice equipment in consistency with the correct master CAD Layers Library.
  • Constant coordination with Architecture and Interiors departments throughout project phases for discipline requirements in foodservice related spaces throughout the project. CD's coordination for plan layouts, RCP's, elevations and details.
  • Produce foodservice specification book in IDG format to include: cover sheet, general specifications, itemized equipment list, foodservice written specifications and cutsheets.
  • Work with the appropriate foodservice equipment vendors to produce the working drawings and/or quotes for all walk-in, exhaust hood systems and any special foodservice equipment and/or systems used in each project. Coordinate these drawings/quotes and their special requirements with engineers.
  • Make all in-house foodservice redline corrections, as well as all foodservice building and health department comment corrections. Coordinate multi-discipline comments with all involved parties.
  • Adhere to strict submittal deadlines throughout the life of the project from schematic design through to permit submittals and a final construction documents set issue.

  • Assist Foodservice Design Director and Architecture team with foodservice construction administration:

  • Modify/revise plans per any issues that may arise through construction administration. Help to create solutions and coordinate with related disciplines.
  • Coordinate and respond to all foodservice related RFI's that may arise for each project.
  • Review and redline all custom and buyout foodservice equipment shop drawings for each project.
  • Assist architecture in reviewing millwork shop drawings in relation to any applicable foodservice equipment items.

Besides producing a complete set of accurate construction documents, the following responsibilities are also required to be done by the firm's FOODSERVICE DESIGNER;

  • Take ownership of your work.
  • Should be able to handle multiple projects at any time.
  • Mentor new and less experienced staff.
  • Assist in Ideation office standards and processes.
  • Communicate effectively with project meetings and sketches.
  • Keep ALL deadlines and project budgets in mind at all times.
