The Research Associate II will join the Scientific Technology Assessment Research Team to assess new technology and its ability to enhance the understanding of multiple diseases. The candidate will be working with cutting-edge technology that may be precarious and require troubleshooting. The candidate will work with a broad group of scientists across multiple disciplines in a team setting. The ideal candidate should be flexible, have a desire to learn new techniques, have patience with troubleshooting, and be an excellent communicator.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform experiments to assess the performance of new technology for a variety of projects in genomics, proteomics, and imaging. This includes planning experiments, bench work, and data analysis
  • Rapidly come up to speed on new techniques, instrumentation, and software as part of a team environment. Projects will change on a regular basis, so we will always be on a learning curve
  • Iterate on experiments to troubleshoot issues, devise solutions to problems, and develop working protocols under the direction of the scientist in charge
  • Keep detailed records of experiments
  • Complete experiments on fixed timelines
  • Order supplies, maintain, and clean equipment and lab environment
  • Train co-workers on technologies and methods
  • Collaborate with other researchers inside and outside of our group
  • Maintain laboratory records

. Requirements:

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a Science field and a minimum of one year of working experience in a lab (post-graduation).

  • Candidate should be able to work independently (once properly trained)
  • Interpersonal skills to collaborate with a team
  • Required techniques include: Tissue culture maintenance, PCR, general molecular biology techniques (including quantitation)
  • Desirable techniques include sequencing, real-time PCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blots, CRISPR
