Job Description
Supports Wealth Strategists in developing and preparing existing and prospective clients' financial plans, analyses, and models, which may encompass investment, retirement, estate, gift, and tax planning, and risk management. Reviews, analyzes, and flowcharts estate planning documents and drafts initial financial projections. Assists in the coordination of client workshops to provide financial advisory expertise to internal sales team and existing clients. Executes and delivers on special projects as needed. Supports marketing efforts through preparation of presentations to facilitate securing current and future business and to build credibility in the local marketplace. Reviews communication materials for updates on product and service offerings, policy and procedure changes, as well as personnel and risk management updates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather financial data from a variety of sources (clients and internal and external partners)
- Review, analyze, and flowchart estate planning instruments
- Prepare and analyze balance sheets, financial projections, and transfer tax illustrations
- Create initial draft of client letters
- Research estate and financial planning matters
- Participate in internal and external client meetings
- Administrative duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Financial planning skills: Basic understanding of a wide range of subject matters including income taxation, stock options, insurance, investments, and cash flow modeling.
- Estate planning skills: Basic understanding of the transfer tax system and core tax savings strategies such as annual gifts and GST trusts. Familiarity with advanced concepts such as charitable and non-charitable split interest trusts (CRTs, CLTs, GRATs, QPRTs).
- Strong analytical skills
- High attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), legal and tax research resources, and third-party software such as BNA Income Tax Planner, NumberCruncher, and WealthTec
- BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or other business related major desired
- JD, CFP, CPA, or currently pursuing same
