Job description

Job Purpose:

Responsible for design, development and validation of laser diode structures and fabrication processes to meet the needs of the product development team. Work with multi-disciplinary team to achieve these goals.

Duties:

  • Design and development of new laser diode structures and fabrication processes
  • Monitoring laser diode performance for both development and production phases
  • Reporting performance metrics to project teams and management
  • Contribute to requirements for growth and fabrication of new laser diode structures
  • Work with interdepartmental teams and external teams to ensure design objectives are met
  • Monitor and report performance of the laser diode designs to the management team
  • Specify and participate in the design and setup of new test systems needed to measure laser diode performance
  • Maintains knowledge of state-of-the-art principles for the advancement of performance of laser diodes
  • Participate in development of patent applications
  • Develop software tools for analysis and reporting of laser diode performance data
  • Develop numerical modelling tools used in the design and prediction of laser diode performance
  • Participate in design reviews with internal and external customers

Skills/Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of an M.S degree in Engineering or Science with at least 2 years of experience developing opto-electronics components. Ph.D. with hands on experience with designing and fabrication of opto-electronic devices is desired. Must have expert knowledge of semiconductor materials, device fabrication, and assembly technologies used in the opto-electronics industry. Must have knowledge of software platforms for semiconductor level simulations and data analysis. Must have good written and communication skills.
