About the role
The Financial Services Operations (FSO) team has a responsibility to understand and action on Member situations that have involved some kind of risk-related activity or event. We also ensure that we adhere to regulatory and business requirements so that the Operations and Member Experience (OMX) team overall through monitoring of controls and performance of certain enterprise-level operational processes. FSO is also building a process-culture and we need a leader who has a strong background in developing process documentation on our journey to be a well-managed team. Overall, our desire is to have a solid, stable operational performance and will know this through an effective governance process. As the Director and leader of this team, you will be responsible to ensure delivery on a strategic vision and execute against this goal, to act as a partner to the several teams at Chime to help Risk and Product teams with regards to improving Chime processes, operationalize new strategies and provide feedback and insights to influence change across the organization. Must be a driven change agent and visionary, be comfortable with data, have a deep understanding of risk functions within the Financial Services environment.
For Colorado based roles: In accordance with applicable law, this role has an annual starting salary of $209,000 plus bonus, a competitive equity package, and benefits (see below). The actual pay may be higher depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Leverage your experience in processes and controls to design and deliver a strategy to create an operational control and governance vision for the team
- Follow-through and build an industry-leading controls and governance framework for OMX
- Be able to effectively articulate, educate and influence within the Operations and Member Experience organization and cross-functionally with teams such as Risk, Product, Compliance and Legal on actions recommended from the team's results and insights.
- Maintains emerging trends and changes across financial services industry on emerging risk and changing landscapes
Design and execute on annual business plans, drive vision for new processes and strategies to improve the experience of Chime Members, manage operational costs and losses to meet those plans - Develop a team of professionals that are growing in capability and understanding of controls into a high-performing and effective organization
- Assist in identifying opportunities to enhance policies and monitoring activities
- Provide cross team and cross functional engagement to ensure timely execution on deliverables, and transparency to affected subject matter experts
- Create detailed issue mitigation strategies and drive issues to closure closely working with cross-functional teams
To thrive in this role, you have
- BA or BS degree; MBA or other advanced graduate degree a plus
- 10+ years of experience in a Control and Governance role that has an operational focus, preferably with a Risk function leading large teams
- Experience with digital banking, payments and/or payment networks
- Proven track record of people management, including experience managing nimble, distributed, multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience working at a hands on level with other groups like engineers, product managers, data analysts, operations analysts in building operations processes and systems
- Demonstrated conflict management and negotiation skills; including ability to influence and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of management
- Sound experience in troubleshooting and diagnostic methodology involving technical, cross-functional teams, when necessary
