Providence is calling a Clinical Laboratory Scientist II (Per-Diem/Variable Shift) at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA.

We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist II who will be responsible for performing superior customer satisfaction, ensuring the highest quality care and service. Perform a wide range of procedures including procedures of high complexity in at least three laboratory sections where one of the sections is blood bank/transfusion services.

In this position you will:

* SERVICE:
* Promote patient, physician, customer and employee satisfaction by personal example, treating all contacts with respect
* Support and participate in activities that foster customer service
* Communicate and follow the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues, when appropriate

* PEOPLE:
* Maintain required applicable licensure, certification and education
* Attend and successfully completes general and department orientation, in-service programs and the annual key competencies and mandatory update requirements
* Participate actively in department staff meetings
* Demonstrate effective verbal and written communications

* Demonstrate knowledge and perform work that is consistent with established age-specific policies and procedures, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, or activities that place patients at risk, specimen collection, processing and selection of appropriate equipment in all phases of testing (pre, analytical and post). Communicate pertinent age-specific information to all clients when needed. Communicate effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner
* Perform automated and manual procedures, applying quality control procedures to establish validity: a) General Laboratory that includes Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Blood Bank, Immunology and Serology or b) Microbiology
* Review, release and report test results, recognizing unexpected and notifiable results and taking appropriate actions
* Collect specimens and take them to the laboratory for analysis, using appropriate or specified equipment for collecting and handling specimens appropriate for their priority and stability. Follows established labeling policies and procedures
* Oversee, coordinate and assume the validity of technical functions and activities of unlicensed staff
* Perform all calibration, quality control and take appropriate corrective action when required, prepare reagents, instrument check and preventive maintenance and maintains related records
* Troubleshoot problems related to methodology, systems and instrumentation
* Perform all appropriate computer-related functions, including monitoring and following up reports such as incomplete worklists, critical result logs, etc.
* Follow through on established policies and procedures related to monitoring workflow and staffing levels as directed by Laboratory Supervisor or Director
* Request, monitor and stock supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times
* Demonstrate willingness & ability to float to areas within their scope of practice as necessary

Required qualifications for this position include:

* Bachelor's Degree
* California licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

* Two (2) years of experience after Clinical Lab Scientist licensure as a Generalist or Microbiologist
