Position Purpose:
Serving as a strategic member of the HR leadership team, this role will be instrumental in developing and executing both a long-range plan and short-term strategies to recruit and hire top talent at El Pollo Loco. Working as an operationally-oriented TA partner, with a hands-on approach, this role partners with the Chief People Officer and leaders across the organization in developing strategic, innovative, cost-effective and results-driven recruitment programs to meet the talent demands of El Pollo Loco. This role oversees the overall management of talent acquisition, including Field and Support Center recruitment, TA technology, processes, and reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General Talent Acquisition Management
* Owns and leads the recruiting, sourcing strategy, hiring processes and candidate experience for El Pollo Loco for all levels of positions, including the Support Center. Responsible for designing, implementing and delivering, in partnership with internal clients, an effective recruiting strategy to source and attract the highest caliber talent to support our company strategy, as well as current and future growth, including management of our employer brand. Create and deliver an extraordinary candidate and new hire experience.
* Creates and maintains strong, credible relationships with senior leaders, hiring managers, critical stakeholders and partners, operating as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert. Cultivates and maintains in-depth knowledge and expertise of the competitive marketplace/industry and educates partners and stakeholders. Mobilizes industry insights to systematically change recruitment efforts base on recent industry news.
* Manage departmental budget, including key investments in all job boards and related vendor relationships. Regularly evaluates return-on-investment for all vendor partnerships and digital marketing efforts, stays abreast of product updates to consider new offerings, and negotiates package selections and pricing. Guide vendors to any needed adjustments using data gleaned from their platforms. Owns the recommendations for future talent acquisition investments.
* Supports retention initiatives by designing and delivering hiring manager training programs and tools to help bring objectivity and efficiency in the hiring process and assist leaders in making high quality and objective hiring decisions (i.e., interview guides, behavioral interviewing and selection training).
Recruitment
Restaurant/Field Recruiting
* Provides forecasted and cost-effective recruitment solutions for internal customers.Consults with Operations leadership and Field Human Resources on projected needs and hiring objectives.Ensures proactive and timely sourcing of highest qualified candidates.
* Establishes innovative candidate sourcing strategies, in collaboration with hiring managers, to improve upon the diversity and strength of the talent pipeline. Proactively manage various sourcing methods, including, but not limited to, networking within the community, building meaningful relationships with local schools/universities, attending local job fairs, drives media and print campaigns, and fostering continued contact with quality candidates who may qualify for future positions.
* Provides visibility and insights to senior leadership (e.g., CPO, COO, Operations leadership) through briefings on all recruiting activities, aligning on on priority areas with HR and Operations, and leads strategic reviews of priorities and activities through regularly scheduled talent calls. Maintains Recruiting Activity report to ensure all efforts are captured, updated and in use.
* Responsible for recruiting and staffing for all New Restaurant Openings. Builds and maintains an HR/NRO Timeline to keep all hiring activities on track.
Support Center Recruiting (Corporate)
* Conducts full-cycle recruiting for all Director and below positions at the EPL Support Center in compliance with formally documented SOX procedures.
* Manages all recruiting agency relationships with regard to EPL hiring needs of Temp (from urgent to long-term), Temp-to-Perm, and Direct Placement. Owns the Preferred Vendor partnerships including approved vendor list and contract negotiations with current and potential replacement vendors.
* Oversees the Employee Referral program for Managers and above, as well as the potential design and implementation of a Crew Referral program.
TA Technology, Processes, and Reporting
* Own, manage and optimize applicant tracking system (Dayforce) including data & training. Acts as the Master User of the Applicant Tracking System, including drafting any needed user material. Manages and utilizes an applicant tracking system to review, analyze and evaluate information provided by applicants in response to job postings.
* Manages the user-access and non-API location matrix. Regularly updates the admin settings list, reviews with ATS Vendor any additions or changes within the admin functions, and consults with HR leaders on any changes to the EPL settings.
* Partners with Operations and broader HR (Compensation and Field HR teams) to manage the Wage Range Matrix, and updated in the ATS as appropriate.
* Manages the background vendor relationship and all related background processes, ensuring full company compliance with Ban-The-Box and other legislation.
* Define, track and analyze talent acquisition metrics. Create practical tracking and reporting methods to monitor and improve performance, establish goals to drive success. Develop and implement workforce plans, refine hiring forecasting capabilities, and establish and report on key recruiting metrics to measure team effectiveness and provide consumable metrics and actionable insights to hiring managers and leadership.
* Leads TA process improvement - continually assess current practices while working to develop new processes and improvements in recruiting, including Applicant Tracking Systems and Vendor Management. Foster an environment of continuous improvement and innovation. Recognize and realize opportunities to improve and evolve processes. Follow up with candidates to obtain feedback regarding our recruiting process and use that feedback to continually evolve and improve EPL recruiting practice.
* Establish tools to assess candidate skills and talent through understanding requirements for positions, company culture and excellent interviewing skills.

The Director, Talent Acquisition has typically 4 or more employees reporting into this position. The role has authority to hire, develop, appraise, promote, reward, discipline, transfer, and approve time and attendance of team members.

Education and/or Experience:
* BA/BS degree required, in Human Resources, Business or related field preferred.
* Minimum of 10+ years of overall Human Resources experience with at least 3 years leading a Talent Acquisition function and team in a multi-state role required, preferably with an expanding organization in the restaurant/retail/hotel/entertainment industry.
* Must possess a track record of employing innovative techniques in sourcing, selection, and hiring, as well as establishing best practices. Selected individual will have experience recruiting high performing teams, negotiating contracts, and implementing an Applicant Tracking System.
License/Certifications:
Valid driver's license required.
