A prominent and highly valued (i.e. the hiring managers for this organization are "top notch") are seeking a Director of Risk Management to support and advise on all aspects of risk management, health and safety.
This person will be responsible for designing, managing as well as monitoring safety standards, processes, communications, training, and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with health and safety within the organization are understood and observed.
This position is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all health & safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are regularly reviewed, designed, updated and communicated.
  • Inspecting or evaluating workplace environments, equipment, or practices to confirm compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
  • Partnering with Claims Manager and Operations to ensure that all near miss and incidents are documented, investigated and preventative measures have been implemented.
  • Communicating and coaching field and corporate support office teams regarding health and safety related items.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant Federal and State OSHA legislation and communicate relevant changes.
  • Serving as main point of contact for any Federal or State OSHA related matters.
  • Leading the Safety Committee at all facility locations within the organization.
  • Developing or maintain hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, etc.
  • Designing a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program to be utilized across all brands
  • Working closely with vendor partners to monitor established cost containment programs.
  • Providing regular reports to the Senior Leadership Teams across all brands on relevant health and safety activities.
  • Preparing reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to the Senior Leadership Teams.
  • Ongoing maintenance and update of Health and Safety related materials on internal portals.
  • Maintaining productive working relationships with internal and external risk management customers.
What you need to bring to the table:
  • 5 years' experience in occupational safety or risk management required
  • Strong OSHA experience required, (California specific preferred)
  • Background in restaurant, retail, or hospitality industry (preferred)
  • Bachelor's Degree in related area (preferred)
  • Proven ability to convert data and information to strategy and to implement best practices and process improvements
  • Ability to build, maintain and strengthen cross functional relationships at all levels
  • Demonstrated success in customer service and relationship management
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects from conception through implementation as well as day to day matters
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently as individual contributor as well as collaboratively as a team member
