POSITION SUMMARY:

Conduct various activities involving procurement of goods and services in support of producing company products and in support of the R&D Department. Evaluate supplier performance to quality and delivery requirements, and assist in providing new sources of supply as needed. Leads and mentors the Purchasing department personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review reports against open/closed PO's and reconcile for accuracy
• Identify qualified suppliers and negotiate best price for products/services.
• Maintain accurate tracking systems, ensuring that information is current.
• Provide Production and R&D staff with status reports of material usage as requested
• Responsible for maintaining purchasing records per the company's procedures and FDA requirements
• Assure the smooth flow of materials into and through the facility with close interaction with suppliers, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance
• Interact with Quality Assurance, Production and R&D to ensure that requirements and quality on all commodities are maintained
• Identify and Procure items under his/her responsibility for the production needs based on established inventory goals
• Maintain good communication with suppliers and production supervisors to assure timely delivery of materials
• Conduct problem solving and performance improvement with suppliers as needed to resolve delivery and/or quality issues
• Ensure compliance with QSR, (Quality System Regulations) as well as other applicable regulations related to environmental, safety, and health.
• Review schedules and forecasts and Issue Purchase Order/Requisitions per the SOPs

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

• A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics or a related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years Supervisor / Management of Purchasing team
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Purchasing and/or Operations in Cosmetic Manufacturing, Food, Bio-tech or similar industries
• An Industry Certification in Procurement Management a plus
• Working knowledge of Inventory Management Software preferred
