Position Purpose & Focus:
Requires construction, environmental, and/or engineering knowledge. Using prior knowledge of Project Management and Project Control principles and Cycles, this position prepares cost estimates for product services. This role assesses cost effectiveness of products and services and tracks actual costs as project develops. The Senior Cost Analyst must communicate with Project Managers, Cost leads and Project Control Managers to evaluate budget commitments and forecast a completion estimate. This position ensures all cost reports are issued accurately & all costs are accounted for during project life cycle. This role is recognized as a functional expert and thought leader in cost and the ability to effectively communicate and take leadership role in preparing and presenting complex reports to senior level management is critical.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicate with Project Managers, Costs Leads, and Project Controls Manager, expenditures, budgets, commitments, estimate at completion, forecast
- Ensure cost reports are issued on time and with accurate data
- Ensure all costs are accounted for during the project life cycle
- Work closely with Project Managers to review project financial status, identify deviations from planned budget, and explain variances while providing advice concerning budget corrections
- Track cost controls and reporting processes (direct/indirect costs, budgets, allocations)
- Track Work Order Authorization Budgets, avoiding overrun
- Report accruals & apply to monthly forecast projections
- Recognize historical trends and provide forecasting for projects by monitoring and modifying cash flow as needed
- Run SAP reports with all cost data coming out from company financial system (directs/indirect), and identify any deviations in order to correct with stakeholders
- Read & understand durations to incorporate in the forecast
- Data storage including organization & tracking of documents throughout approval process, ensuring signed forms are gathered and saved for auditing purposes
- Ensure forecast is revised on a monthly basis, based on consideration of progress, pending change orders, expenditure rates, and earned value factors
- Prepare graphs & presentations to illustrate cost status forecast requirements for management
- Update current budget according to change management process with change orders
- Schedule and attend company & team meetings, as needed
Qualifications & Success Factors:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or 6-10 years of hands-on experience in cost management including budgeting, change management, forecasting and reporting required with experience on engineering, procurement, and construction projects desirable & PMP or other AACE certifications are preferred.
- Intermediate MS Office skills, with previous experience in SAP preferred.
- Previous pipeline or gas facilities experience preferred.
- Detail-oriented, analytical thinker with excellent Mathematical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well within a team.
- Manages time effectively with the ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
