Job Duties:
Under supervision of the Principal Statistician, you will provide statistical analysis, data management and
consultation for projects in the Population Health Research Core, which includes projects across the UCLA School of Medicine
campus and outside of UCLA. The Pub Admin Analyst performs professional statistical work using a variety of standard statistical
methods and programming techniques in order to complete assignments; and perform other related duties as required.
Under the direction of the Principal Statistician, you will will assist investigators, which include faculty, fellows, residents, medical students and fellow team members, in planning research designs on observational and interventional studies which may result in contracts or grants; determine from discussions the purposes and objectives of various studies and implement data collection and analysis strategies accordingly; with the Principal Statistician, meet with investigators to discuss statistical analyses to meet their research aims and objectives; summarize and interpret results to investigators after completion of analysis sets. You will report directly to the Principal Statistician, who will assign and monitor work flow.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a health science field, such as epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health
Master's in health science field, such as epidemiology, biostatistics, biology, public health, etc. (highly preferred)
At least 2 years working experience in a health science field, such as epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, etc.
Knowledge of univariate and multivariate statistics (i.e. linear regression, logistic regression, time to event analysis, repeated measures) for cross-sectional and longitudinal studies.
Demonstrated proficiency in SAS, MS Word and MS Excel; knowledge of MS Access helpful.
Experience in research study design and assessing appropriate statistical methods.
Experience in designing data collection procedures and protocols.
Demonstrated skill in setting priorities in order to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in assignment, workload, and pressures of deadlines.
Experience in interpretation of statistical results and ability to convey results to investigator.
Experience in data management, including data cleaning and variable creation.
Experience in sample size/power calculations for various study designs and grant proposals.
Skill in writing statistical methods and results clearly for publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively and concisely communicate research designs and statistical analysis plans to investigators and collaborators using appropriate statistical terminology
Demonstrated ability to organize, initiate and work independently to address responsibilities; must have strong time management skills and ability to independently prioritize tasks and re-prioritize work based on knowledge of research objectives.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with co-workers, faculty, research staff, students, and community contacts and collaborate effectively as a team
