Position Summary: Playfly LLC is seeking a Finance Manager to join the Home Team Sports Finance team based in Los Angeles, CA. The Home Team Sports Finance team provides partnership and support to the various functions across the Home Team Sports division within Playfly LLC. We engage directly with senior and executive management to understand the drivers of revenue and expenses and turn that understanding into forecasts that drive critical strategic decisions. We leverage an analytical, detail-oriented approach to develop meaningful relationships with the wide variety of business partners that we support.
This highly visible position will play an integral role in providing significant insights on Home Team Sports' overall financial performance and perform data analyses to drive business decisions. The primary responsibility for this role is financial reporting, planning and analysis, including but not limited to managing the monthly close, forecasting and budgeting processes. Other responsibilities include sales commission plan administration and managing the relationships with the Accounting, AP and AR functions to ensure timely collections and payments, and proper coding.
The successful candidate will be an expert at data management including data acquisition, analysis, data integrity management, metrics management and reporting. Additionally, this seasoned professional will use their networking skills to partner with people, develop models for scenario analyses, and have the aptitude to learn various aspects of the business. The right candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple teams within our organization (e.g. Accounting, Sales Operations, Sales) to achieve desired results without constant supervision. This highly valued position will be held by someone that demonstrates superb critical thinking abilities and quantitative skills to provide key insights and analytics.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for managing month-end, quarter-end and year-end close tasks, including but not limited to reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, reporting and analysis
  • Lead the analysis and research of P&L accounts and drive resolution of all outstanding issues
  • Manage the financial planning & analysis process, including building and maintaining financial projections in connection with periodic forecasts and the annual budget
  • Oversee the preparation and distribution of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to be utilized in monthly close and management meetings
  • Manage the administration of the monthly sales commission plan
  • Partner with business, finance and accounting teams across the organization to identify and lead initiatives to continuously improve, automate, and scale forecasting and reporting tools, processes, and methodologies
  • Proactively seek optimizations within own processes
  • Clearly and concisely communicate financial information to non-financial managers
  • Lead or support any ad-hoc projects and financial analyses as needed, particularly in projects involving variance analysis/reporting and key metric reporting
  • Play a leadership role in Finance team to drive engagement and foster high-performing team culture, including mentoring direct reports to meet and exceed expectations related to quality of work, attention to detail, development of skillsets, etc.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting or Business
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • 5 - 7 years relevant work experience; media/advertising/entertainment experience a plus
  • Strong financial acumen and grasp of corporate finance fundamentals, including experience with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and follow up
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment
  • Manage multiple projects timely and accurately
  • Must work well in a demanding, fast-paced environment and can manage competing priorities
  • Superior verbal and written communications skills, particularly the ability to develop strong arguments and present them concisely to a range of stakeholders, including executives
  • Advanced Excel and presentation building skills with experience in creating financial models and clear, concise presentation materials
  • Proficiency with other Microsoft office applications is a benefit
  • ERP system experience is a must
