GRAIL is seeking a Staff Scientist for the R&D IVD product development team to contribute to the development, optimization and validation of assays for post diagnostic cancer analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and execution of experiments and data analysis with the mentorship of senior team members. The ideal candidate is a meticulous, strong teammate with experience in nucleic acid assay development, next generation sequencing and data analysis. Experience working on regulated products and under design control is important. This position will include a mixture of lab work (~25%) and desk work (~75%). Experience with IVD/CDx development will be a plus for this role.
You will:
- Develop experiment plans to support study objectives
- Test and optimize custom protocols
- Successfully complete R&D experiments to generate high quality data
- Document experimental details and results and perform preliminary data analysis
- Present data in technical meetings and write study protocols and reports
- Ensure laboratory activities are performed in compliance with best practices for assay and instrument operation, safety, and result documentation
Your qualifications and background will include:
- M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or relevant subject areas
- Minimum 8 years of industry or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience with NGS workflows
- Expert with molecular biology laboratory techniques
- Experience working under GLP and GDP
- Experience with statistical programming and software (e.g., R, JMP, Python) a plus
- Experience with IVD/CDx development will be a plus for this role.
