As an NG Fellow in Advanced Weapons, you will serve as the primary sector domain expert for this significant business/technical area. You will conduct complex scientific or technical analyses that require the synthesis of diverse disciplines and alternatives; solutions may be developed under conditions of uncertainty or where little precedent exists.

As the primary domain expert for this technical area, you will set and drive strategy for a broad set of technical initiatives and will be empowered to make decisions and be held accountable for results that significantly impact the annual operating plan (AOP) and long-range strategic plan (LRSP) outcomes and other major initiatives. You will also act as a thought leader representing the business within the customer community and within industry groups.

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Northridge, CA is currently seeking to fill a Northrop Grumman Fellow position to support the Advanced Programs Operating Unit. As a recognized leader in their technical domain, the qualified candidate will join Engineering, Program and Business Development leadership in architecting, developing, maturing and integrating Missile Systems employing breakthrough technology innovations, new development/production opportunities and maintaining the future growth of the Advanced Weapons business.

In this role, you will:

Serve as the primary domain expert for Missile Prime Integration, system architectures and system level performance supporting Advanced Programs business objectives

Develop information which extends knowledge in technology domains covering state of the art, autonomous systems with subsystems that include flight sensors, flight computers, communications, propulsion, payloads, sensors and air vehicle integration

Conduct very complex analyses that require the synthesis of diverse disciplines and alternatives and achieve efficient, effective, and innovative engineering solutions

Introduce and develop new critical technologies for advanced missile system concepts and architectures

Plan R & D programs and recommend technological application programs to accomplish long-range objectives.

Influence business objectives by developing advanced applications of technology, and attracting and capturing new business consistent with the long range strategic planning

Serve as a thought leader for the organization within the customer community and within industry groups.

Interfacing with design and implementation engineers to ensure technical excellence and shape the development of robust and compliant designs

Provide key insights and inputs in the development of proposals for technology and product development

Basic Qualifications

Minimum of 20 years professional experience, with a BS; 18 with MS; 15 with PhD

15+ years of experience in weapon system architecting and applied technology development

Background in aerospace systems with basic understanding of aircraft systems, missile systems, and their design drivers.

Working knowledge of Low Observable technologies

Current/Active Secret clearance, or higher. Clearable to TS

Special Background Investigation within last 5 years

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledgeable in Digital Engineering and Digital Acquisition best practices

Recently published or presented technical papers within technical domain of expertise

Network of outside technical contacts within industry, professional societies or academia

Salary Range: 191800 - 287800

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
