This position is part of the R&D and NPD team responsible for innovation of new products, formulations, specifications, and brand integrity for Pernod Ricard's RTD portfolio in accordance with all quality, regulatory and legal requirements.
Purpose/Strategic direction for the position
* Lead and develop experimental and analytical operations within Research & Development department.
* Master analytical techniques and provide expertise to support development and production of RTDs.
* Support innovation of new products, knowledge building and brand integrity.
* Research new technologies and equipment; promote an environment and mindset of continuous learning and improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Support Product Development teams in the delivery of new product innovations and value engineering opportunities via analytical and microbial testing including to be the lead of stability testing.
* Chemical quality analysis/assurance of products.
* Ensure microbiological safety of products and general food safety.
* Lead analytical activities and investigations linked to NPD, complaints, quality and co-packer issues.
* Lead continuous improvement related to testing and analytical capabilities; identify new opportunities, optimize testing protocols and procedures, manage analytical method developments.
* Manage capital purchases and maintain a three-year plan for the RTD R&D Laboratory.
* Provide guidance to Co-packers and Operations as required.
* Ensure proper Standard Operating Procedures are available and up to date.
* Maintain records and provide analytical reports for all projects, testing and investigations.
* Ensure Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) is followed.
* Expert knowledge of RTD/convenience products.

* Identify potential risks to brand integrity and safety and explore opportunities to mitigate those risks.
* Effective communication and support to NPD Manager and R&D developer and Operations teams.
Qualifications/Profile and Key Capabilities
* Thorough knowledge of analytical methods and techniques including GC/MS, HPLC and NIR, wet chemistry and microbiology
* Microbiology / Food Safety.
* Ability to interpret and analyse data, prepare reports & recommendations.
* Superior organization, time management skills and excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and manage multiple projects.
* Strong interpersonal /influencing/problem solving skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team environment.
* Self starter and self directed; able to drive results in a fast paced environment.
* Fluent in English.
* Food and Beverage Chemistry and Analysis (an asset).
* Good knowledge of regulations (FDA and alcohol beverage for USA and Global).
Education
* University Degree or College Diploma in Chemistry/Biochemistry or Food Science.
* The position requires laboratory and analytical experience.
