Job description

We are currently searching for a Controller with five or more years' experience in project accounting. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in business, accounting or related field. The candidate will need experience in contracts administration, milestone billing, and CA sales tax in multiple districts. Someone with a background in the Construction industry would be ideal. Our Controller will lead our Bookkeeper and Purchasing Specialist who handle the day-to-day accounting tasks, as well as facilities. You will report to the CEO/Owner and have a seat on the Leadership Team.

The Controller is responsible for the timely functions of AR and AP, project and financial accounting and reporting, sales tax, cash management, payroll, state & federal reporting requirements, and working with the CPA for year-end accounting and taxes. The perfect candidate will also be able to coordinate HR needs for about 20 people (health insurance, on boarding, compliance, 401K, etc.), but other arrangements can be made for those tasks.

We need someone who can work independently (after appropriate training of course), be meticulous with numbers and files, be friendly yet persistent, and be able to speak up when things don't look right. The successful candidate will be willing to constantly learn new things and grow both personally and professionally. The ability to multitask is helpful but being able to prioritize is critical. Flexibility and a sense of humor are absolutely required.
