Job description
**Job Title: Chemist**
**Summary:** Provides analytical support to formulations research, development, and manufacturing activities. Tests raw materials, in-process materials, and finished pharmaceutical products using physical, wet chemistry, and instrumental techniques. Documents laboratory work in compliance with regulations and drafts technical documents. Assists in laboratory troubleshooting.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Independently performs and documents laboratory work
+ Provides technical inputs and designs experimental laboratory plans
+ Prepares reports for laboratory test results
+ Communicates with project teams
+ May supervise and train Performs physical, wet chemical and instrumental analysis Identifies problems and provides preliminary troubleshooting for analytical methods and equipment
+ Interprets data and compares data to established specifications or anticipated trends
+ Assists in experimental design and protocol development Prepares reports for laboratory test results
+ Effectively communicates with supervisors on project status and problems encountered
+ Performs accurate calculations and documents work in compliance with GLP/cGMP and DPS procedures
+ Performs peer review of data for other staff members May provide training, supervision and scheduling assistance for Technicians and other Chemists in skills they have mastered
+ Assists in laboratory safety programs Works in accordance with established procedures and establishes new procedures
+ Provides analytical support to formulations research, development, and manufacturing activities.
+ Tests raw materials, in-process materials, and finished pharmaceutical products using physical, wet chemistry, and instrumental techniques.
+ Documents laboratory work in compliance with regulations and drafts technical documents.
+ Assists in laboratory troubleshooting.
+ Analytical techniques such as HPLC, UV-Vis, FT-IR, LC-MS, etc.
**Qualifications:**
+ Demonstrated understanding of safety guidelines and observance of safe practices during performance of duties
+ Quality minded with ability to perform work with accuracy and in accordance with established procedures and regulations
+ Effectively communicates with Supervisor and team members
+ Analytical in work performance
+ Organized and able to perform duties in a timely manner
+ Must have sufficient manual dexterity to perform laboratory testing in a manner that provides precise and accurate results and works in a safe manner
+ Vision must be suitable for performing detailed inspections
+ May be required to move items weighing up to 25 pounds May be required to stand for long periods of time to perform laboratory work
+ Individual is required to wear and use appropriate protective equipment in laboratory areas
+ Must be able to work with standard laboratory chemicals under normal safety precautions
+ Must be able to work with computers and general laboratory instrumentation
**Education:**
+ Minimum: Bachelor s degree in Chemistry or related scientific field with about 0-3 years analytical laboratory environment supporting pharmaceutical product development or equivalent experience
+ Preferred: Master's degree in Chemistry or related scientific field with exposure to analytical laboratory environment.
