Supervisor, Financial Regulatory Reporting

Description
This position is responsible for the supervision, mentoring, and development of staff, and overseeing the regulatory/statutory financial reporting function and other ad hoc analysis in the Financial Reporting Team. This position requires solid healthcare knowledge, experience with regulatory/statutory reporting (Orange Blank, and/or MLRs), and ability to extract data in various data sources (SQL databases and/or large ERP accounting system). The candidate must have strong accounting knowledge, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and the ability to drive results.

1. Lead, manage, and ensure the external regulatory reporting deadlines are met.
2. Understand and keep abreast of State and Federal's issuance and/or changes to guidelines and regulations that impact regulatory reporting. Provide staff appropriate guidance.
3. Prepare, review, and approve workpapers for regulatory reporting.
4. Lead all technical accounting research and related implementation of applicable accounting pronouncements, including but not limited to GASB. Keep abreast of the latest accounting pronouncements to ensure financial statements are in accordance to GAAP.
5. Provide the necessary coaching, developing, and training of staff. This also includes performing annual reviews, recruiting new team members and, if necessary, preforming disciplinary actions.
6. Manage and ensure appropriate staffing to complete regulatory filings.
7. Effective communication with all levels of management as well as internal and external staff.
8. Oversee and manage ad hoc projects when external reporting filings are not in process.
9. Provides backup to General Ledger team as needed.
10. Act as Lead for internal and external inquiries external reporting requests such as State's audits, etc.
11. Identify areas where process improvements are needed and provide suggestions for implementation.
12. Serves as a back-up to the Financial Reporting Manager for absences, unexpected workload, etc.
13. Ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting, finance, or regulatory reporting, with at least two years of healthcare experience. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience or equivalent experience. Minimum of one (1) year of technical accounting research experience. Experience with ERP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards and regulations. Principles and techniques of effective supervision, including motivating, training and evaluation.
  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution can be substituted in lieu of minimum supervisory/management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Accounting, or other related field from an accredited institution required.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of staff. Ability to set priorities, multi-task, meet critical deadlines and pay attention to detail. Multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPA is required.
