Job description

JOB SUMMARY
Assist with the administration of federal, state, and institutional student aid programs and ensure University compliance on policies, procedures, and regulations. Help execute the delivery process in an equitable manner ensuring accuracy, conformity, and consistency in financial aid packaging.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs file review, packaging, revisions, and quality control of financial aid program funds for traditional undergraduate students.
- Reviews, evaluates, and verifies federal financial aid applications and all submitted documentation to ensure accuracy and equity.
- Advises for traditional undergraduate students and parents regarding financial aid eligibility.
- Oversight of one or more traditional undergraduate financial aid specialty areas (Cal Grant, federal funds, loans, workflow, VA, etc.)
- Assists in or presents financial aid information sessions for traditional undergraduate prospective students, parents, and community groups.
- Makes recommendations to the Associate Director on financial aid office policies and procedures, forms development and modifications for traditional undergraduate students.
- Assist in audits, reconciliations, and federal and state reporting, as needed.
- Attends seminars, workshops, and conferences to remain current on legislation regarding student financial aid programs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with all PacWest Conference and NCAA rules and regulations as they pertain to student-athlete athletic financial aid and entitlements and responsible for ensuring that Student Financial Services is compliant with all rules and regulations.
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledgeable in all areas of financial aid: Federal Title IV and State regulations governing financial aid programs, determination of need, packaging procedures and resolution of problems.
- Bachelor's degree preferred. Three years direct work experience in student financial aid or the equivalent.
- Computer proficiency required with Word and Excel; PowerFAIDS or Workday knowledge preferred.
- Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of the University.
- Ability to communicate and counsel effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment relating to extenuating circumstances and policy interpretation.
- Ability to exercise important interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations within the SFS Office and the Point Loma community.
- Ability to work independently and assume responsibility for problem solving sometimes under stressful conditions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time. Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Vision to read documents, email and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. Hearing and speaking to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone. Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day.
