Job description

Sunrise Management, is seeking a Staff Accountant experienced in third party property management, Real Page Accounting, OneSite and or Appfolio applications and the real estate industry. We have an immediate opening within our accounting team based out of our San Diego Corporate Office!


This is a Full-Time position that offers a competitive salary of $55,000 - $65,000 per year based on experience. Hours are Monday through Friday; 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and this role is Eligible for health, dental, vision, 401k, vacation, sick and personal time off.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant is responsible for accounting and financial reporting matters for all certain designated entities owned or managed by the company.


FINANCIAL

  • Prepare monthly financial statements for a designated portfolio of residential properties.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations for all designated properties or for multi-beneficiary trust accounts.
  • Record monthly journal entries for all designated properties
  • Responsible for maintaining proper cash balances for all designated properties, including the distribution of cash to the owners in accordance with their requests and timing, insuring that the proper reserves are held, and initiating requests for capital advances.
  • Oversee and monitor the property tax schedule for all designated properties to ensure payments are made in a timely manner.
  • Oversee and monitor annual Rental Unit Business taxes for designated properties.
  • Oversee and monitor preparation of Personal Property Tax Form 571-R for all designated properties.
  • Deposit cash in bank for Sunrise Management and managed properties and record this activity in the general ledger.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budgets and input into the accounting system.
  • Communicate and resolve problems with property managers.
  • Assist in compiling general information for audit, due diligence, tax and other requirements.
  • Adhere to company accounting directives, including but not limited to; weekly and monthly reports, income accounting, expense control and administration and bank deposits.
  • Maintains a general working knowledge of federal and state laws in regards to the accounting function

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Education and/or Experience

A four-year degree in accounting from an accredited College or University and minimum 3 years of general accounting experience. Must be computer literate including at least an intermediate user of Microsoft Excel and Word or their equivalent. Knowledge of RealPage accounting software, OneSite, AppFolio and Yardi is beneficial.


Other Requirements

Incumbent must have reliable transportation available and have a valid driver's license and automobile insurance, as travel to the bank and meetings may be required.
