In preparation for the February 15, 2022 Special Municipal Election, the Department is seeking applications for one Bilingual (Chinese/English) Voter Outreach Coordinator position to assist in conducting in-person outreach events, delivering nonpartisan information about the Citys redistricting process, key election dates and deadlines, registration and voting.

The person in this position will work in the Voter Information Division Outreach Unit of the Department of Elections and will be tasked with conducting outreach on behalf of the Department as well as the San Francisco Redistricting Task Force. POSITION OVERVIEW AND SCHEDULE

This is a seasonal position, with the start date contingent upon completion of the hiring process. The Department intends to fill this position by December 6, 2021. The end date for the position is approximately February 20, 2022, with opportunity for assignment extension of up to June 17, 2022; the exact end date will be determined by the operational needs of the Department in the post-election cycle.

Work hours will vary in accordance with the demands of the election cycle and will range between 40 and 60 hours per week. Although most work is expected to be completed during normal workday hours, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, employees must be available to work overtime both during the week and on weekends as necessary. Overtime hours will be paid at 1.5 the hourly rate.

This is a temporary exempt as-needed position. Temporary exempt as-needed employees who have worked more than 1040 hours in any consecutive 12 month period, and whose normal work week at the time of inclusion in the system is not less than 20 hours are eligible for health coverage and retirement benefits. POSITION SALARY $26.6750 /HOUR

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The ideal candidate must have a strong work ethic and a high level of integrity. This position requires someone with excellent public speaking skills and demonstrated ability to learn new subject matter in a short period of time and to present information in a clear and engaging manner to a variety of audiences.

Essential tasks include:

Making arrangements for and speaking at community events to inform and educate voters, and increase voter participation among voters and potential registrants

Attending and assisting with the conduct of meetings of the San Francisco Redistricting Task Force

Providing outreach to the public about the Citys redistricting process and proposed maps

Providing election information at resource tables at community events throughout San Francisco

Canvassing neighborhoods frequented by residents with limited English proficiency to distribute election materials and information

Brainstorming innovative outreach activities to engage voters and potential registrants

Researching new partner organizations and media channels that serve residents of vulnerable and hard-to-reach communities

Providing general clerical support

Assisting with other election-related functions, as needed
