Consumer & Small Business Banking (CSSB)

Consumer and Small Business Banking (CSBB) provides financial services to 21 million retail bank households and three million small business customers through approximately 4,900 retail branches, 17 customer service centers, and more than 13,000 ATMs in 36 states and the District of Columbia. We serve and help individuals and families in many aspects of their lives, helping them buy homes, open first bank and savings accounts, buy cars to get to and from work or school, and start or grow small businesses. CSBB is focused on innovating and transforming with the customer at the center, better enabling customers to engage with us how, when, and wherever they choose. As an industry leader in many consumer and small business areas - including retail deposits, debit card transaction and purchase volume, and small business lending - our primary goal is delivering for our customers.

Growth and Branch Administration leads overall Branch Banking strategy development, market and branch distribution, administers management and operating routines, defines and manages staffing models, designs and administers incentive programs, defines and monitors P&L performance routines, provide coaching to District Manager and Branch Managers to support business growth strategies, oversees programs to support the customer branch experience and assesses business performance holistically across the teams supporting Branch Banking.



The Role

The Branch Banker Platform and Process Leader is a critical role for the new Branch Growth and Administration business unit within CSBB. This leader will lead a team responsible for the systems and processes used by our bankers across our national branch footprint and will partner extensively with groups from product, senior management, marketing, legal, risk and compliance. The team supports the banker sales and servicing platform design, maintenance, and enhancements in support of banker strategy in the branches. This team designs and executes simple, innovative and relevant solutions for the banker platform and related processes to mitigate risk, empower our branch employees and satisfy our customers financial needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead banker sales and servicing platform design, maintenance, and enhancements in support of banker strategy in the physical channel.
  • Partner with other strategic planning teams within the Growth and Branch administration team and enterprise partners around branch transformation and banker role design.
  • Lead risk remediation efforts involving banker platform and behaviors resulting from identification of issues by legal, risk, and control partners
  • Ensure accurate management and change control tied to business processes
  • Partner with technology partners to develop banker technology platform strategic plan to move away from legacy systems
  • Resolve issues related to our banker platform and processes and ensure go-forward process have appropriate monitoring and controls
  • Own Consent related issues, projects, changes and necessary executive read outs
  • Develop and manage core metrics necessary to drive the business forward and demonstrate success
  • Partner with change management teams to continuously improve the communications for items related to front-end banker system(s)
  • Improve banker sales process working with other Branch Growth and Administration leaders and teams
  • Engage in complaint/escalation work when and where needed
  • Manage a team of leaders and individual contributors


The Candidate

The successful candidate will have experience leading a best-in-class team leveraging highly effective business, design, process, and tools practices that enable branch employee success in support of critical business growth initiatives and strategic priorities.



Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of management experience
  • 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following functional areas: business process, quality assurance, strategic planning, or project management



Other Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of branch processes with understanding of the future direction of the branch design- both from an industry perspective and creatively
  • Demonstrated experience communicating powerfully and succinctly to senior and executive leaders and simplifying the complex; keen ability to tell the story and gain support needed
  • Strong presentation skills - written and verbal, and the experience adapting both content and presentation style to multiple audiences
  • Strong critical thinking skills combined with strategic business focus and a passion for the customer and employee experience
  • Proven ability to take apart existing processes to find the issue and build a new process to resolve it
  • Demonstrated experience creating and executing on logical process flows
  • Proven ability to pull together story lines from across the team and integrate into a broader message
  • Knowledge of Risk Framework with experience mitigating risk implications related to process and technology design
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the proven ability to manage processes and people, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Must have strong relationship management and proven leadership skills, with solid conflict management, negotiation and organizational effectiveness techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to manage effectively in a heavily matrixed organization with a high degree of initiative and strong ability to meet key responsibilities with limited direction and oversight
  • Proven success recruiting, inspiring, developing, coaching and motivating team members through balanced leadership with a focus on employee engagement, retention and performance management
  • Proven success building and maintaining strong credible relationships with key stakeholder groups, including executive management
