Job description

Bio-Phase Solutions is looking for a Production Supervisor III (PCR) to provide leadership and direction to a manufacturing team of Production Chemists. This role is responsible for the formulation of Chemical and Biological products and intermediates to support a growing PCR business unit. Manufacturing is performed in accordance with established procedures and in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) / ISO 13485. The Production Supervisor III also works with Process Development and Research and Development to transfer new products into production and to continuously improve existing products. The ideal candidate is capable of handling assigned role independently and with a minimum of supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manages a team of 9+ degreed Chemists/Biologists in the formulation and assembly of chemical/biological PCR reagents according to established processes with a safety first mentality.
• Schedules, assigns, and manages the daily activities of the team.
• Communicates priorities, performance results, and objectives to team members.
• Responsible for meeting key metrics such as production schedules, quality standards, production yields, cost targets and the like.
• Troubleshooting: Identifies root cause of problems, determines and implements corrective actions.
• Process Improvements: Identifies and implements cost and quality improvement and workflow optimization. Plans and implements Lean manufacturing and related concepts.
• Budgets: Creates budgets incorporating the planned purchase of capital equipment. Tracks and controls expenses against said budgets. Participates in annual standard cost review.
• Training: Coaches and trains employees on day to day activities and work with them to further their career development/goals. Provides specialized training to the team.
• Performance Management: Monitors employee performance and prepares and communicates performance reviews. Makes salary recommendations based upon individual performance.
• Recruiting: Interviews and selects personnel.
• Project Management: Participates/Leads teams in New Process Development and Continuous Improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
• 7+ years' experience in the manufacture of PCR / molecular products in a regulated environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience and demonstrate strong Leadership skills.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and relevant applications.
• Strong analytical, communication, decision-making, and project management skills.
• Thorough knowledge of inventory management, demand flow technology, production processes and related technologies.
• Thorough understanding of ISO 13485, FDA regulations, GMP and GLP required.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Experience with the introduction of new products, process scale up, and the transfer of products into production.
