SUMMARY OF ROLE:

Our growing molecular diagnostics start-up is looking for a Payroll Supervisor who will be responsible for all aspects of the payroll function including maintenance and reconciliation of all related general ledger accounts.

The Payroll Supervisor must also ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as payroll tax regulations in a multi-state and global environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with our US and international payroll and benefits providers to assure accurate and timely payroll processing for hourly and exempt employees
  • Manage and document all payroll related changes such as new hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions, withholding, garnishment, time off, status changes
  • Ensure all tax payments are done timely, accurately as well as follow up on tax notices
  • Responsible for setting up multi-state registration
  • Responsible for all payroll related general ledger accounts
  • Perform reconciliations of benefit plan contributions and resolve discrepancies
  • Perform quarterly and annual balancing of wage and tax reports
  • Administer the employee stock plan
  • Prepare and process new equity awards, exercises, and terminations on a timely basis for all employees and other equity holders
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of W2s
  • Assist with year-end audits, workers compensation audits, 401(k) audits, and regulatory filings

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five (5) years of related experience
  • Expert knowledge of payroll accounting, payroll tax laws and regulations, including multi-states, local, and federal tax law required
  • Experience with processing both hourly and salaried payroll in a multi-location and global environment
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment, adhering to strict deadlines
  • Strong analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with Sage X3 or similar ERP experience would be a plus
  • Experience with BambooHR, Zenefits or similar HRIS and payroll software preferred
  • Experience with HRIS and/or payroll system implementations or transitions preferred
