The Corporate Business Development team is focused on developing a broad, strategic vision for Applied Materials, identifying and evaluating new growth initiatives, and supporting business units in the strategic areas. Our vision is to be a corporate function deeply focused on high quality execution of strategic projects as we pursue our vision of core and non-core growth; armed with the full set of competencies, skills, and external networks to maximize outcomes for Applied Materials.
Reporting to the head of Corp Business Development, the Sr. Director Corp. Business Development, will be responsible for the identification of new opportunities in core, new and adjacent markets. In close partnership with the head of Corp Business Development and senior staff, he/she will work on ongoing development of business opportunities within target markets. In collaboration with the business units she/he will develop business case for inorganic growth opportunities. With direct access to senior executives, this individual will lead highly visible strategic projects that will have a significant impact on the direction and performance of the company.
The ideal candidate would be familiar with developing strategy and management frameworks, financial analysis, and/or business architecture with a proven track record of successful business strategy development, strategic partnerships, and change management by influence. She/he will possess a deep understanding of strategic business development processes accumulated through experience defining and leading multiple project of significant scale and scope in the B2B technology sector. The role will require strong teamwork and partnership with multiple stakeholders across Applied Materials and outside partners, and success will come to those able to gain the trust and confidence of stakeholders, and who demonstrate Applied's Core Values. She/He will require broad strategic thinking abilities and excellent business acumen, coupled with excellent leadership skills to navigate in a matrixed environment suited to a high performance leadership culture. Key Qualifications :
- 10+ years of experience with significant Corp Business Development project management experience
- Business experience relevant to a highly complex B2B technology systems company, delivering solution to solve complex technological problems. Semiconductor exposure is ideal, however business development professionals from industrials, or electronic materials will be considered
- Skilled at analyzing problems and arriving at clear decisions; able to distill information, gain clarity of ideas, synthesize, and then define next steps for execution
- Bright individual, with ability to combine logic, creativity, and judgment; quick study, able to handle complex matters with multiple initiatives; able to deal effectively with strategic issues, as well as operational details
- Energetic and resourceful, with strong service orientation and positive can-do attitude; fully committed to the job and to deliver outstanding work; never satisfied with status quo, continually striving for excellence
- Ability to navigate and develop relationships at all levels in the organization
- Very strong written and oral communicator with proven ability to think conceptually and pragmatically; capable of communicating with senior executives
- Excellent interpersonal qualities; ability to collaborate effectively using broad range of influence styles to drive desired results; works well with others and is a true team player
- Very strong project, process, and organizational skills; able to effectively juggle multiple projects/assignments at one time and deliver high-quality results in timely fashion
- Proactive work style and ability to work independently and manage cross-functional activities with limited oversight; comfortable working in and bringing structure to ambiguous environments
- Commitment to the highest standards of honesty and integrity
- Bachelor degree in a technical field required, an advanced degree (e.g., MBA or other masters) from a well-regarded institution is preferred.
