Pay Rate: $25/hr W2

Shift: Mon - Fri (8am-5pm) - Flexibility to occasionally work on weekends

Duration: 11-12 months - based on business needs

Location: On-Site

The Microarray Research Services Laboratories (MRSL) in Santa Clara is looking for a highly motivated, creative problem solver who can be part of a team performing high throughput genotyping, DNA copy number, and DNA extraction. This job requires a dedicated individual, who is a quick learner and enjoys challenges.

We provide customers with service offerings for microarray genotyping, gene expression and Next Gen Genotyping platforms using sequencing technologies. We provide customers with an opportunity to test our platforms and prove their efficacy. We have both internal and external customers from both industry and academia worldwide studying a large variety of subjects and organisms.

We have multiple lab environments in our organization, and you might work in any of four environments.

Job Description:

• Do genotyping assays such requiring use of multi-channel pipettes, reagent preparation and sample tracking.
• Perform high throughput genotyping using automated liquid handlers and timed schedules.
• Provide assistance in the pre-PCR lab environment performing quantitation and normalization of nucleic acids utilizing automation.
• Work in a BSL2 space for nucleic acid extractions
• Other general laboratory duties include
• Enter data into LIMS.
• Report any out-of-calibration or broken equipment.
• Fill out inventory sheets for material consumed
• Assist team in stocking/restocking materials and shipping/receiving customer samples.
  

Job Requirements:

• BS in biological sciences fields, such as Biology or Biochemistry with 1-2 years laboratory experience

Basic laboratory techniques required such as micro pipetting, solution preparation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, optical density measurements, work with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
