Our location in Santa Clara, California currently has an opportunity for a Senior Systems Integration and Lab Service Engineer. In this exciting role you will be supporting the Abbott Hematology organization by being a Subject Matter Expert in technical aspects of the organization's instrumentation platforms. The position comprises Service and System Integration responsibilities within an R&D team by supporting and developing Hematology testing platforms.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Service aspects of the role require direct and onsite technical support, leading service escalations and collaborating with cross functional teams in order to obtain successful resolutions. Maintaining the internal instrument base, installing new prototypes & external clinical systems is a primary responsibility.
• System Integration aspects of the role include developing new product designs and design improvements on instrumentation in the medical device field. Writing & executing system integration test protocols, developing new instrument procedures and analyzing performance data will be essential to the role.
• Travel accounts for approximately 25% of the job, although this number percentage may increase in times of elevated activity.
• Be a Subject Matter Expert in technical aspects of the instrumentation platforms
• Provide leadership and guidance to junior team members
• Identify, confirms and interprets interacting causes & effects behind instrument issues, discrepancies, problems or complaints in accordance with governing procedures
• Advanced troubleshooting across multiple system functions (hardware and software or hardware and assay performance problems).
• Provide efficient direct Service Support
• Respond to service tickets for break/fix, system upgrades and preventative maintenance
• Perform installation, integration and performance monitoring of external clinical sites
• Lead internal investigations into technical complaints and lab instrument issues
• Devise root cause hypotheses and confirms instrument issues, discrepancies, problems or complaints in accordance with governing procedures.
• Lead & support technical documentation.
• Author and verify technical documentation (small procedures up to service manuals)
• Assist with design for serviceability and supportability of engineering activities
• Provide input into the design of new products and product improvements.
• Create study protocols and review with stakeholders to align with program objectives.
• Execute study protocols following good lab practices to align with Abbott Quality procedures to support on-market changes and product improvements
• Apply quantitative methods, analyzes data, evaluates results, forms conclusions and provides/implements improvements.
• Record and communicate experimental results to technical personnel with diverse scientific backgrounds.
• Perform all duties in compliance with appropriate regulations and company policies
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
• Define investigative paths for and confirms Complaint Handling investigations to closure
• Maintain effective communications within ADD Hematology organization & leadership
You'll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Required
Bachelors Degree In engineering or life sciences
Minimum 6 years of experience in a Biosciences or Engineering capacity
Preferred - Please Modify
• Experience in a clinical laboratory servicing diagnostic medical equipment
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical, optical and fluidic systems
• Experience planning and executing hardware / software integration activities
