Intro

As Director of Public Affairs, you are a creative thinker who can convert small ideas into fully implemented public affairs campaigns. This position is ideal for someone with relevant political or issue advocacy experience and an established background in developing public affairs strategies, grassroots outreach, coalition building, and business development. Enthusiasm and a strong work ethic are vital.

The Job

Working with stakeholders, clients and internal team, the director of public affairs will:

* Be a self-starter who is confident and always growing
* Build trusted relationships with both clients and colleagues
* Collaborate with the executive team to develop revenue strategy and contribute to the organizational strategic planning
* Participate as a seasoned communicator who shows collaborative, strategic and innovative thinking
* Directly manage communications that promote, enhance and protect the client's brand and reputation
* Develop and implement an "action plan" for each client
* Engage third parties and outside groups on behalf of clients
* Coordinate local grassroots activity and grassroots mobilization
* Provide leadership for Davies junior team members through coaching, mentoring and goal setting
* Collaborate and partner with the business development team to expand offerings and develop new business opportunities
* Ability to develop and/or present at national conferences

Experience & Skills Needed

* Established public affairs expert
* Robust relationships nationally - network based
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* The ability to manage multiple projects on tight deadlines
* A record of creating and managing complex communications plans
* A creative mind and goal-oriented mindset
* Ability to thrive in an environment where structure and flexibility combine to meet clients' needs
* Ability to travel (30-50%)
* A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 7 year's experienced

Other Requirements

This position is full time and non-exempt. Consistent and reliable attendance is required. This position requires travel. Our interview process requires company assessments following an initial interview, as well as reference and background checks, and additional interviews with members of our team that this position will support on a daily basis.
