Our talented, compassionate team thrives in an autonomous environment, is empowered and supported by education, training and the resources to practice healthcare the way it is meant to be and strives to "Always Do The Right Thing!"OverviewUnder the direction of the Physician, Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), or higher licensed medical professional, the Director of Nursing (DON) will be responsible for planning, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Department in compliance with all applicable nursing standards, local, state and federal regulations and laws.QualificationsEducation for Director of Nursing:• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing• BSN or Masters in Nursing is preferredExperience for Director of Nursing:• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in health care management, five years preferred.• Three (3) years' correctional experienceLicenses/Certifications for Director of Nursing:• Unrestricted current RN license in state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.• Current (and must maintain) lifesaving ACLS certification through AHA• Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHAResponsibilitiesAssists in the overall responsibility for coordinating the health care services for county's detention facilities and carries out the terms of the county contractAssists in the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of all nursing personnelPerform employee evaluations and make recommendations for employee promotion/disciplineCompletes all staff schedulingAssists with nursing sick-call when necessaryCommunicates to physicians/providers any potentially significant medical complaint or observation discovered during routine dutiesCollaborates with Medical Director on clinical issues and policy changesAssists the on-site medical director and HSA/AHSA in the credentialing process for RN's working under standardized proceduresAssists with clinical and administrative mattersAssists the HSA with establishing and maintaining company Policy and Procedure ManualManagement and control of Methadone as assignedMaintains employee personnel files and monitor compliance with corporate database informational requirementsRecommends and participates in the development of organizational policies, such as monitoring and enforcing Infection Control policies and proceduresServes on organizational committees such as QA, Infection Control, and MAC meetingsConducts regular staff meetings and in-servicesAssists with the collection of monthly statistical dataConducts Quality Management audits as outlined in company policiesChart all findings in persons served medical record providing written summaries of history, diagnosis and treatment course or other documentation requirements as outlined by company and FacilityAssist in the job shadow portion of the interview process of potential staffAssist in orientation and training of new employeesResponsible for the performance evaluations and successful training of direct reportsPerform other duties as assigned.Wellpath is an EOE/Minorities/Females/Vet/Disability Employer
