Job description

Summary/Objective

The VFX Production Manager will work in conjunction with the Director of Studio Programs and the VFX Supervisor in managing the daily operations of the EM Visual Effects Studio, providing administrative and production assistance. The Production Manager organizes and expedites the flow of work within the VFX studio and prepares work, production schedules and monitors the progress of all projects.


Essential Functions

Jobs and Projects in the Studio

  • Works with the VFX Supervisor to determine what jobs are appropriate for the crew at-hand
  • Develop, prepare, and negotiate all bids for in-studio work with the VFX Supervisor and breakdowns for the clients
  • Oversees and reviews all contracts for work including evaluating scope and duration
  • Confirms all tech and VFX specs for title jobs with the client, do a roundtrip test of the new pipeline for each job and proofread each version to correct any mistakes before delivery
  • Responsible for final delivery of every job that comes through the VFX Studio
  • Creates all invoices for clients and tracks payments
  • Uploads all finished shots to clients and keeps track of any feedback from clients within the database


Outreach

  • Continues to look for new clients based on referrals, previous work and more
  • Establishes and maintains strong client working relationships between Exceptional Minds and specific studios, production companies, and VFX facilities
  • Sets up industry tours for potential clients as necessary


Administrative

  • Prepares all daily/weekly call sheets, reviews, and approves work orders and change orders as needed
  • Keeps track of the progress of VFX shots for each project within the VFX Production Database
  • Provides status reports to clients on any project or job when requested Software and Security

Software/Security

  • Manages studio specifications and on-site security assessments with TPN
  • Obtains licenses and permission for use of VFX clips for Marketing reel, website, and training
  • Downloads all shots from client's secure sites to the vault for use by supervisors and artists
  • Distributes and tracks all studio ID security badges, as needed


Education and Policy

  • Oversight of VFX Supervisors and VFX Teachers in developing performance evaluations for 3rd year students
  • Establishes administrative policies and procedures for the day-to-day operation of the VFX
  • Studio
  • Works with the Director of Studio Programs to develop, establish and create future plans and
  • policies for the VFX Studio


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience required
  • Previous experience working on feature films or television related projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Mac based software, and Filemaker and/or multiple other project tracking software
  • Extremely detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Bonus if you have knowledge of visual effects, postproduction and how their pipelines work
