**Animal Technician (S. San Francisco & San Carlos, CA)**

Kelly Science & Clinical is excited to be hiring an **Animal Care Technician** to work at a Biotech Company in South San Francisco and San Carlos, CA!

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm with some overtime and required to work one weekend a month.

Temp to Hire opportunity!

Pay Rate: $23/hour

Must be comfortable working with mice and gowned up in a clean room environment and be able to drive between different sites in S. San Francisco, CA and San Carlos, CA.

As an **Animal Care Technician** , you'll perform routine animal care and other production duties including watering, feeding, and cleaning enclosures for rodent populations.

+ Animal Care and Husbandry Responsibilities

+ Ensure that high standards of animal welfare are met.

+ Provide food, water and clean housing to animals according to applicable SOPs.

+ Perform routine animal health observations.

+ Monitor temperature and humidity, reporting any issues to supervisor or manager.

+ Maintain accurate records

+ Maintain vivarium cleanliness in accordance with applicable SOPs.

+ Order and maintain accurate supply inventory

+ Maintain and organize supply areas.

**Other Responsibilities**

+ Maintain rodent breeding colonies

+ Reserve, select, and accurately pack animals for customer orders following established shipping procedures.

+ Other duties as assigned.

**Physical Demands**

+ Dexterity of physical condition to operate all job duties; lift and move objects regularly throughout the shift.

+ Work in a standing position requiring bending and stretching of arms and legs throughout regular work shift.

**Special Considerations**

+ Must avoid contact with rodent species outside of work.

**Education**

+ High School Diploma or equivalent..

Animal Care and Breeding Technician

+ One technician in S. SF

+ All are in S. SF, Mission Bay

+ **Must have a car, might have to drive between sites.**

Doesn't have to be the best of the best, has a passion for animals and has a desire to work with animals.

+ On their feet 8 hours a day

+ Education isn't a big deal

+ Any body can be trained

+ Not going to get promoted in 6 months after they convert

+ May be asked to do things not in the job description

+ One weekend a month, a must

+ Expected to Euthanize here and there, CO2 chamber

+ Learn customer service, forward facing interaction with

+ Attendance is important

+ Needs to know vacations up front

+ Any vacations in the next 6 months, no vacations

+ 8am to 4:30pm,

+ Scrubs, provides PPEs

+ Phone screen first round and Video interview after

+ Management takes care of employees

+ Rent out their facilities, like a Charles River CRADL facility

+ Working with their client

+ The company rents out the vivarium

+ Start at ACP 1 and ACP 2

+ Concentra for a Fit for Duty

+ No COVID vaccinations yet, clients are requiring it

Has multiple openings in the Bay, need coverage from site in San Carlos to SoSF, possibly some coverage at Mission Bay site in SF. Will convert at 25/hr. They prefer we pay candidates 23/hr so the candidate has a bump on conversion. Holly will train candidates without experience, but prefer some animal handling or exposure. More important is the attitude and physical capabilities to do the job. Candidates must have good customer service skills, be willing to work on their feet all day, and they must be ok with using animals for research and euthanizing. Candidates must pass get a health clearance -fit for duty physical through Concentra. PPE is not bunny suit. It s scrubs and hair nets, booties, etc. provided by Explora. Goggles are provided but not required. Covid Vaccinations not required at this time. Send resumes to Holly and cc Heather, but Molly needs to check with Heather on new ATS tool.
