Job Description

Plans and administers policies relating to all phases of human resources activity. Works to effectively administer a variety of issues including employment, compensation, employee relations, benefits, training, performance management, organization development, and succession planning.

  • Works pro-actively towards appropriate resolution of employee relations and performance issues.
  • Recruits and screens candidates to ensure compatibility with AHA's Value Statement; conducts interviews to ensure candidates possess the appropriate skills and knowledge to effectively perform the job; hires only top-quality individuals to fill vacant positions.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals..
  • Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
  • ·Assesses training needs of staff and recommends content and delivery options.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
  • Administers salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within organization.
  • Administers FMLA claims, ADA interactive processes and Workers' Compensation Return to Work programs.
  • Prepares employee separation-related documentation and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
  • Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
  • Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
  • Contracts with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as temporary agencies and Employers Council.
  • Manages relationship with 3rd party benefit administrator for insurances such as life, health, dental and disability and employee assistance.
  • Coordinates with Accounting on pension plan issues; and payroll time reporting issues including vacation requests/utilization, sick leave reporting and leaves of absence.
  • Creates and maintains personnel file storage per federal records retention guidelines.
  • Maintains documentation of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
  • Conducts or presents at group employee meetings.



Requirements:

Qualifications

  • 4 year degree plus a minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in HR Field. Master's degree preferred. Certification by the HRCI as a Professional or Senior Professional in Human Resources (PHR or SPHR) is also preferred
  • Hands-on experience and demonstrated mastery of human resources practices, policies, employment law and the ability to interpret the law to ensure the organization's compliance
  • Cultural sensitivity and a strong influencing ability, combined with a balance of an analytical and pragmatic approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication stills (verbal, written, presentation, negotiation and facilitation skills), the ability to consistently deliver employee focused, bottom-lined oriented Human Resources solutions.
  • Manage multiple priorities; possess strong problem identification and problem solving skills.
  • Current knowledge of EEO, FMLA, ADA, Section 504 and Fair Housing Regulations.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and current HR regulations.
  • Strong working knowledge of computers and office software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and Teams.
  • Flexibility to work with minimal guidance and direction.
  • Able to see both big picture and to be detail-oriented.


Additional Information

Conditions of employment:

Works in a normal office environment working with standard office equipment. May also be able to work remotely some of the time. Light physical activity required. Must be able to travel to various locations and properties to meet with employees.
