Job description

Inotiv, Inc. is a contract research organization that provides pre-clinical research services and monitoring instruments to emerging pharmaceutical companies and medical research organizations. The Fluorescent imaging Scientist works collaboratively to acquire and analyze multiplexed fluorescent images. Images are acquired using the Akoya Vectra Polaris whole slide fluorescent scanner, and analysis is performed using Visiopharm and other image analysis platforms. The Imaging Scientist also communicates with clients regarding imaging and analysis capabilities and study results. Day-to-day responsibilities will be a mix of image acquisition, complex troubleshooting, method development, client communications, and image analysis.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Operate and maintain the Akoya Vectra Polaris whole slide fluorescent scanner
  • Apply knowledge of fluorescent microscopy, tissue pathology, and cell biology to appropriately image and analyze tissues
  • Participate in the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of multiplex labeling protocols
  • Contribute to product development strategies of fluorescent imaging and analysis services
  • Effectively prioritize all relevant work to satisfy internal and external deadlines
  • Maintain organization of study documentation, slide storage, and data storage
  • Create, optimize, and implement analysis algorithms for fluorescent images, using Visiopharm and other image analysis platforms
  • Communicate with clients regarding fluorescent imaging capabilities, analysis feasibility, study results, and data interpretation
  • Author and maintain relevant SOPs, imaging protocols, and validation measures

Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with Microsoft tools (i.e., D365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication and writing skills (scientific writing experience preferred)
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot
  • Knowledge of tissue biology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence microscopy, and image analysis
  • Comfortable with data analysis, data visualization, and basic statistics
  • Experience with image analysis software
  • Comfortable operating both as an individual contributor and in a complex, cross-departmental team environment.

Education and Experience:

  • MS/PhD in molecular/cell biology, engineering, or a related field, or 3-5 years' experience in an academic lab performing independent study in these fields.
  • 1-3 years' experience identifying/troubleshooting computational/mechanical issues related to digital pathology or microscopy.
  • Must work well with diverse teams in a rapidly growing corporate environment with tight deadlines and high-profile clients.

Compensation:

  • This is an exempt, fulltime position
  • Starting annual salary range is $75,000 depending on education and experience
