Job description
Role Summary
This Chemist role has a high emphasis on phosphoramidite synthesis, improving processes for synthesis of oligonucleotides, production of other reagents in support of oligo production, and other chemistry related duties.
Essential Responsibilities
- Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Synthesizing phosphoramidite monomers
- Identifying and developing processes for the synthesis, purification, and analysis of oligonucleotides and resolving technical challenges and difficulties
- Delivering new and custom products and involvement in tech transfer and scale-up of oligonucleotides
- Operating analytical equipment: UHPLC, HPLC, ESI-MS, UV-Vis, NMR
- Organizing work and recording all procedures accurately and consistently with notebooks and batch records
- Evaluating and extending new chemistries as well as providing innovations which can be developed into new product advantages
Quality Specific Goals:
- Aware of and comply with the Horizon Discovery Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
- Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
- Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
- Support compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before completing Design Outputs/Program Deliverables
- Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field with 5+ years relevant work experience, Masters degree in Chemistry or related field with 2+ years relevant work experience; or PhD in Chemistry or related field with 0 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong organic chemistry experience is highly desired; Experience in the synthesis of phosphoramidites is preferred
- Experience in developing processes for purification and analysis of large macromolecules is a plus
- Demonstrated problem solving ability
- Good oral and written communication skills

Compensation range
$85,000 - 105,000, depending on experience.
