Job description

General Purpose:

The Via Service Vehicle Operator is responsible for safely operating and transporting passengers with a door-through-door transportation service, meal or food delivery.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the functions outlined below. Management retains the discretion to add-to and/or change the duties of the position at any time, as necessary.

Free training will be out of our Boulder or Denver office. We have Toyota Prius', Subaru's, an MV1 or you can drive your own vehicle (upon approval).

General Responsibilities:

Safely operate a passenger transportation vehicle

Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections as instructed by the Safety & Training Coordinator per Via's Standard Operating Procedures

Possess a functional knowledge of the geographies of the service areas

Maintain a good rapport with the general public and passengers

Provide door-through-door assistance and appropriately perform safety precautions with all passengers

Review schedule prior to leaving base to clarify any schedule, client, route, address or special need(s) information

Possess mapping skills as required for the position

Physical Functions:

Use full range of sense of hearing

Use full range of speech

Use full range of sense of vision

Walk while performing vehicle inspections and assisting passengers and the public

Write reports in a coherent, legible manner

Other Functions:

Relationships include interaction with the general public at all levels, handling complaints, support liaising with public relations functions and coordination of transportation operations. The driver must be able to work independently.

Work Environment:

Duties are performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions

Qualifications:

Minimum 21 years of age.

Must possess and be able to maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record

Must have knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practice and procedures

Must have a neat appearance and a sincere desire to work with any level of the general public

Must consent to a request for a criminal Background Report and Motor Vehicle Driving Record

Must pass an Alcohol and Drug test (includes marijuana).

Successful completion of Defensive Driving and PASS (passenger assistance and Safety) Class both are (done virtual).
