We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer with four to ten years of experience that exhibits great problem-solving skills, a "can do" approach, and thrives in a high energy environment. In this role, you will work with a team of experts, supporting various tasks centered around the hard-rock mining industry. Examples of these tasks would include, but are not limited to, geotechnical field investigations, facility designs, and construction management projects. You will be mentored along the way by senior engineers. However, as you grow into the position, be prepared to be the point person managing various assignments, with oversight from the senior staff. A key item is your ideas or thoughts on different issues will be strongly considered during various projects activities.
Willingness to periodically travel to field sites is expected. Work form home will be considered for this role. Responsibilities:
- Assist and task lead with a variety of engineering tasks including, but not limited to, coordinating geotechnical field investigation/drilling programs; assist in designing various mine facilities including heap leach pads and associated solution collection and pumping systems; waste rock dumps; tailings dams and impoundments; synthetic and soil-lined process solution and stormwater ponds; solution collection ditches, stormwater diversion ditches; and completing watershed analyses and water balance programs.
- Analyze and interpret laboratory geotechnical test results.
- Review boring logs and develops subsurface soil profiles.
- Develop design drawings and writing technical specifications.
- Lead writing technical design reports and memos.
- Complete investigation and construction field assignments (as needed),
- Obtain the necessary management skills to grow into a Task Manager / Project Manager / Technical Lead position.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with the project team.
- Candidate must also implement behavior-based safety tools to achieve incident-free operations (no personal injuries, property damage or environmental releases) for both client and Parsons.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineer or related field.
- 4 to 10 years of related work experience in geotechnical engineering, primarily focused on the mining industry.
- Basic proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft software programs/applications.
- Requires a demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate is preferred, but not required.
- Willingness to attain Professional Engineer (PE) certifications in appropriate States is preferred.
- Being a registered PE is a plus.
