Job Description:Leidos is hiring a project manager to lead cutting-edge science and research projects in support of the National Science Foundation's United States Antarctic Program (USAP) under the Antarctic Support Contract. The successful candidate will be relied upon to quickly dive into new or active projects and assume the project leadership role to navigate projects and project teams to success. Leidos trusts project managers to be true project advocates and to be experts in the health, status, needs, and progress of project assignments also capable of delivering high-quality results, status reports, and team communications. Effectiveness in alignment, coordination, and integration of numerous planning and operational teams is vital to success in this role.
The Antarctic Support Contract team is primarily based out of Centennial, Colorado. Remote support will be considered; however, candidates must currently live in the U.S. and be willing to travel to the Centennial office as needed.
Per the contract, U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Residency is required.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Lead science project planning activities, including interacting professionally with ASC staff, NSF representatives, external researchers and agencies. Close collaboration with ASC Science Planning and Implementation , and functional & area management , is required to ensure projects are fully integrated into the USAP program
- Lead detailed technical planning activities for science projects including all aspects of logistics, coordination of multiple support functions, and definition of science requirements
- Effectively gather and manage requirements, develop project scoping documentation, identify and manage stakeholders
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules and budgets
- Identify and manage project risks
- Communicate effectively, both written and spoken, in directing project work and preparing and delivering project status briefings.
- Interface across a matrixed organization to find the resources and support needed to ensure project success
- Understand and comply with applicable regulatory requirements
- Deliver high end-user and client satisfaction
- Serve as the primary customer and company leadership contact for assigned projects
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree and 6 years of prior relevant experience
- Government and / or university contracting experience
- Experience and clear examples of managing or coordinating large & complex, multi-organizational efforts
- Excellent communications skills, flexibility and willingness to learn; able to adapt the rigor of good project management to a rapidly changing environment and science requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on the ASC or similar science/logistical support
- Experience with field work, science support, or remote logistical support
- Have experience in Antarctica or remote location logistics and science support, project management, and/or field data collection and will be familiar with USAP field, station, operations. Familiar with the conduct of field science.
- PMP Certification
*** Deployment to Antarctica may be required for approximately 3 to 8 weeks each year. The selected candidate must pass the physical and dental examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet physical requirements to deploy may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action. ***
Pay Range: Pay Range $71,500.00 - $110,000.00 - $148,500.00#Remote
