Purpose & Scope: The individual in this position will assist the Head of Human Resources of Regional Beef in supporting our field Human Resources and Operation teams by developing, auditing/validating, training, and development of best practices of processes, strategies, and initiatives, which support our Mission to be the BEST.

Responsible for support, auditing/validating, and training of multiple Human Resource functions including, but not limited to: Employee and Labor Relations, Payroll, Employment, Training and Development, Safety and Health, and Compliance. Duties include assuring compliance with such agencies as; USCIS, NLRB, OSHA, EEOC, OFCCP, as well as related internal policies, practices and Collective Bargaining Agreements.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Assess, understand, and focus on human resources details/data (e.g., staffing/crewing, application flow, turnover, internal audits, Workers' Compensation, safety, etc.) and assist with development/implementation of playbook, action plans, and best practices to positively impact.
  • Conduct regular audits of the above to ensure compliance with company policy and State/Federal laws.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, mentorship, and training to field HR teams related to compliance, HR best practices, and expectations.
  • Regular follow-up with team members, local union representatives, and local community agencies to validate the effectiveness of internal programs, strategies, and initiatives.
  • Act as Regional Beef liaison with all plant teams and corporate office personnel (Labor, Compliance, Leadership and Development, etc.).
  • Oversee and partner with Leadership and Development with all trainee programs (External, Internal, Mexico, and Internship) and regular follow-up with all trainees.
  • Use Process Mapping and Continuous Improvement practices to better understand a process and eliminate waste/bottlenecks.
  • Be a strategic partner/alignment with Head of Human Resources, Operations, Engineering, and others in supporting the Regional Beef business.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Working Conditions:
  • 50 to 55 hours per week
  • Office setting 20%
  • Overnight travel 80%


Requirements:

  • Education: Undergraduate degree preferred, Master's degree and/or PHR/SPHR certification optional
  • 5 plus years as a plant Human Resources Director with related experience.
  • Union and Non-Union Experience.
  • Strong understanding of all HR related functions to include, but not limited to: Staffing and Retention Strategies, Labor Relations, Collective Bargaining Agreement/Company Policy interpretation and enforcement, Compliance (AAP, I-9, Payroll, Leaves of Absence, etc.), Workers' Compensation, Case Management, Health Services, Team Member and Community Relations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to handle conflict

Relationships:

Internal: Ongoing dialog and communication (coaching, counseling and mentoring) with managers and HR staff. Regular communication with Plant Operations Leadership (General Manager, Operations Managers, and Superintendents), along with frequent communication with Regional Beef Corporate Human Resources. Develop and validate appropriate implementation of policies, practices and procedures intended to meet administrative requirements and operational goals.

External: Initiates regular proactive communication to develop open relationships with business partners such as appropriate labor organization leaders, regional regulatory agencies and community/civic representatives.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $100,000-$125,000; and
  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company's annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;

This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account various factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to a candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiencies for the role.
