Job description
Do you love flip flops and pool noodles? Does the sound of splashing make you smile? We are looking for lifeguards. Currently, all shifts are available.
The Longmont and Lafayette YMCA pools are seeking lifeguards for fall schedules. These are branches of the YMCA of Northern Colorado; we offer memberships, fitness programs, youth sports, aquatics programs, social opportunities, and early childhood education for the Northern Front Range.
You will serve as an advocate for the safety and wellbeing of our members and guests, and you will ensure that the Y's pool is a friendly, welcoming environment for all to play, learn and build confidence in the water. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the safety of participants while they are in or near the pool or hot tub, general maintenance and cleanliness of the pool, chemical testing, and general problem-solving. You'll need to relate positively to a variety of people including other staff, members, program participants, and children.
If you are not a certified lifeguard please check out our lifeguard classes at . W e are willing to provide these classes to strong swimmers with interest in and ability to work at our YMCA pool through the fall season.
In general, our pools are open:
- Monday - Thursday: 5 am - 9:45 p
- Friday: 5 am - 7:45 pm
- Saturday: 6:45 am - 7:45 pm
- Sunday: 7:45 am - 5:45 pm
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Current ARC/YMCA Lifeguard, First Aid, AED, Emergency Oxygen and CPR-PR Certifications
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- Professional, alert, courteous, and tactful
- Blood Borne Pathogens within 30 days of being hired
To protect our community, all employees will be required to provide proof of having received a COVID-19 vaccination by November 1, 2021. New employees, outside of licensed childcare staff, hired after November 1, 2021, will be required to show proof of at least 1st dose of vaccine before their first shift. They will then have 30 days to provide proof of full vaccination.
Salary range is $15.00-16.50/hr based on experience. We offer a % differential for bilingual staff (Spanish and English) and a % differential for staff working the opening shift. These increases can be combined. And there are great benefits, too. Part time staff working more than 15 hours each week are eligible for free individual and discounted family membership as well as 25%-50% off most YMCA of Northern Colorado program fees for themselves and qualifying family members (including personal training, swim lessons, after school programs, day camp programs and more) on a space available basis. Additional benefits include earned sick time and contributions of 10% of your salary to the YMCA Retirement Fund for eligible staff.
