Benefits Coordinator Job Description:

Coordinates the administration of various employee benefits plans for the organization by performing the following duties personally or through facility based human resources:

  • Plans and directs implementation and administration of employee benefit programs.
  • Prepares and communicates information to employees and former employees about benefit programs, procedures, changes and government-mandated disclosures.
  • Analyzes and evaluates services, coverages and options available through insurance companies/vendors to determine the programs best meeting the needs of the organization.
  • Provides services to employees to answer benefit questions, resolves problems related to access or payment of benefits, processes enrollment and changes in status forms.
  • Maintains an accurate employee benefits data base in automated human resources information system.
  • Coordinates transfer of data to external vendors, plan providers, auditors and consultants.
  • Reviews reports from plan providers to verify accuracy and resolve differences.
  • Maintains knowledge of government mandates, benefit program trends and prevailing practices among similar organizations.
  • Recommends benefit plan changes to Director of Human Resources.
  • Audits benefits plan compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Plans and performs facility audits to verify enrollment, benefit deductions and plan participation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or other related field preferred
  • Previous experience in human resources/benefits administration preferred
  • Familiarity with payroll and benefits software
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Must be knowledgeable of current industry changes and trends
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude towards staff.
