Job Description
Title: Accounting Manager
Overview of Position
The purpose of this position is to assist the Controller in providing hands-on leadership and management of all company financial planning and accounting functions (A/R, A/P, G/L, Cost, and Inventory Accounting) in a Manufacturing environment. Design, develop, implement, and manage cost accounting practices including Standard Cost and all relative variance reporting throughout the organization and client groups. Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles. Supervises accounting staff within functional areas.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
- Assist Controller in directing and coordinating company financial reporting, planning and budget management functions
- Performs monthly balance sheet account analysis
- Prepares and reviews various cash, A/P, A/R, etc. reports monthly for management
- Manages and monitors delinquent A/R
- Process Payroll for the site
- Assist Controller in creating benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of departments
- Assist Controller in monitoring and analyzing monthly operating results against forecasts
- Assist in oversight of daily operations of the finance/accounting department
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements
- Assist Controller in establishing and implementing short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
- Makes recommendations and improvements for departmental efficiency
- Assist Controller in supervising, training, developing, and providing feedback of all assigned personnel in a timely, effective, and proactive manner
- Assist Controller in directing financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements
- Assist Controller in designing, developing, and implementing standard costing systems, including those associated with standard labor (tracking and systems)
- Develop and implement variance tracking for all client groups
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
What are the requirements needed for this position?
- A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a senior level Financial/Accounting position supervising staff in a manufacturing environment.BS Degree required in Finance or Accounting
- Masters degree is preferred
- CPA would be beneficial
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
- Solid knowledge of finance, accounting, and budgeting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems (Sage/MAS 500)
- Solid knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
