Position Summary:

The Associate Director, Human Resources will support the Director, Human Resources and Training in driving improvements in full cycle recruiting, streamlining onboarding, maximizing employee and candidate's experience, and sharing best practices. This position will provide support and facilitative duties in a manner that fosters the achievement of the organization's mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Manage the day-to-day HR functions such as onboarding, offboarding, recruitment, volunteering, and completion of mandatory training. Provide HR collaborative support in the area of retention, network building and positioning YWCA Hartford as the Employer of Choice.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Responsible for new hire orientation, new hire training, recruiting and onboarding.
  • Supports the Director, Human Resources and Training in implementing employee initiatives, processes and policies.
  • Develop creative strategies to source, identify, attract and hire top candidates in a timely fashion and share best practices with team members.
  • Creates and sustains networking relationship with workforce centers, colleges, universities, community partners, associations targeting specialized skills and experience to optimize and attract talent and needed skills.
  • Oversee volunteer recruitment, training and retention.
  • Gathers information about each volunteer's skills, availability, and goals; matches volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on this information.
  • Ensure a diverse pipeline for open positions: attend, engage, and build relationships with diverse organizations and recruit at diversity conferences or entities.
  • Assists in recruitment and retention of staff for non-executive positions.
  • Accurately assess candidates for cultural, competency and skill fit, gather candidate and hiring manager feedback and routinely pre-closes candidates to ensure high acceptance rates.
  • Act as a business partner by advising hiring managers on effective interviewing techniques and collaborates with others throughout the organization to ensure a smooth process and meeting staffing goals.
  • Effectively communicates and builds relationships with managers on identifying hiring needs.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate reporting of HR metrics - interviews, time to fill, time to post, offer extended, retention, and attrition.
  • Supports recruiting and retention efforts and identify patterns and trends to assist with ongoing recruitment efforts.
  • Collaborates with the HR team, Director of Communication and Strategic Implementation to market positions through applicable platforms, social media, handshake, nonprofit job boards.
  • Ensures a successful and positive onboarding experience for new employees, ensuring full compliance with HR protocols.
  • Maintains personnel files, ensures the timely submission of all required forms and paperwork; ensures accuracy of personnel files.
  • Oversee our volunteer programs and collaborate with department leaders or manager to match volunteers with volunteer positions throughout the organization.
  • Reviews and processes all personal action requests. Maintains confidentiality of all employee's information.
  • Completes all background check processes in accordance with all federal and state specific regulations and YWCA's protocols.
  • Stays current on recruitment trends, Labor Laws, Connecticut and Federal regulation and laws.
  • Knowledge about local, state, and federal laws, e.g., EEO, OSHA, Labor laws.
  • Maintains all regulatory required logs and records.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.


Requirements

Education:
Associates degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Degree concentration preferably in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related field.

Experience:
  • Five (5) years' experience in full cycle recruiting required. Experience in staffing, workforce center, admission, or related preferred.
  • Successful demonstration experience in sourcing, identifying, and attracting talent required.
  • Proficiency in social media and job boards required.
  • Experience utilizing applicant tracking systems required.
  • Experience in recruiting passive candidates preferred.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately evaluate candidates required.
  • Strong motivation to achieve results and meet goals required.
  • Ability to maintain a sense of urgency required.
  • Ability to define and implement research and sourcing strategies for critical positions required.
  • Effective customer service and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Active in the Social Digital and recruitment arena desirable.
