Senior Paralegal/Lease Administrator Stamford, Ct. 70K to 85K

Our client a vertically integrated private real estate investment firm is seeking a Senior Paralegal/Lease Administrator to be based out of our Stamford, CT office. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will work closely with all departments, but with a heavy focus interacting with the Leasing and Asset Management teams.

Essential Functions:

The Senior Paralegal/Lease Administrator is responsible for processing and maintaining lease documents for our predominately grocery anchored shopping centers. Duties include the following:

  • Drafting and negotiating new leases, renewals, SNDA's, lease riders, addendums, amendments and assignments
  • Working alongside outside counsel on large, national tenant lease negotiations, as well as on compilation of lease exhibits and due diligence materials
  • Preparing and maintaining lease abstracts
  • Researching existing leases for the purpose of identifying and interpreting exclusive and prohibited use clauses
  • Ensuring landlord and tenant compliance with individual lease terms and resolving material lease issues
  • Responding to lease related inquiries from senior management and members of the Asset Management and Leasing departments
  • Monitoring tenant legal and bankruptcy matters
  • Assisting with due diligence work associated with property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinances, including preparing and tracking Tenant Estoppels and SNDAs
  • Tracking the unit status, leasing activity history, lease expiration dates, completed deals, and dead deals across the AmCap portfolio
  • Monitoring the status of key dates and obtaining all information required during the tenant onboarding process
  • Communicating tenant lease activity and distributing copies of lease documents and notices to relevant parties
  • Preparing and mailing lease documents and tenant notices such as (but not limited to) Welcome Letters, Commencement Date Agreements, Notices of Default, and tenant improvement allowance disbursements
  • Serving as a key contact for Tenants and Property Managers with regard to lease matters
  • Entering new leases, extensions and other amendments data in Yardi. Updating tenant contact information in Yardi and Outlook
  • Setting up, maintaining, and archiving electronic and hard copy lease files
  • Completing ad hoc projects upon request from the various teams

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • 3-5 years of Paralegal or Sr. Lease Administrator experience in the retail real estate space required. Prior experience working with national and regional retailers is a plus
  • Proven track record of negotiating lease terms with Tenants and outside counsel, as well as drafting lease agreements
  • Outstanding initiative and work ethic, proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Yardi experience preferred
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technology and work with others in implementation of new assignments
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
