Senior Quality Technician

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Quality, the Senior Quality Technician primary responsibility is to ensure the plants systems and processes promote a World Class Quality culture. This is a multi-faceted position requiring excellent process improvement, change management and communication skills. To successfully meet this goal will require frequent coordination and cooperation with other members of the Leadership Team and other functional areas of the plant, including Production, Production Control, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality and Sales. The individual in this role would be functioning as if for a start-up organization and may wear different hats at any given time.

Responsibilities:

*Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all employees.
*Positive attitude, good judgment, and excellent time management skills.
*Comply with all applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental directives and regulations.
*Perform mechanical, metallographic and microscopy tests in accordance with all required specifications and standards.
*Possess some understanding of ASTM, AMS, ISO and/or MILITARY specifications.
*Maintain calibration of plant tooling and instrumentation, ex. Records, schedule, and master tooling.
*Working knowledge of NIST calibration standards, ISO requirements.
*Support manufacturing and performing floor inspections daily.
*Analysis/inspect and accept/reject incoming raw material.
*Review and maintain all lab equipment calibration and certification records.
*Work with production personnel to identify and resolve issues that may result in a non-conformance or atypical event.
*Test samples per approval specification/Analysis of samples in a timely manner.
*Updating and release data into QAD.
*Perform monthly laboratory audit; manage/monitor expiration of laboratory inventory.
*Assist QA Manager in monitoring laboratory compliance.
*Interact professionally with other departments and service providers.
*Performs other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

*Technical degree (Minimum A.S. degree or B.S degree preferred.
*Minimum five (5) years working experience working in a laboratory.
*Successful completion of advanced lab training courses, Knowledge of and fully cross-trained on calibration standards and ISO requirements for all laboratory equipment and training documents.
*Efficient working knowledge/ability to use the laboratory tools and equipment.
*Ability to work independently and part of a team with minimal supervision.
*Ability to maintain workload with time constraints and changing schedule.
*Proficient in MS Suite office applications with the ability to learn new computer systems quickly.
*Excellent written and oral communication skills; interpersonal and problem-solving; planning/organization skills and customer focus.
*Extremely adept in attention to detail and follow-up.
*Self-starter and results oriented.
*Strong verbal/written communication skills.
*Attention to detail.
*Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and tools, reach with hands, arms and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
