Job description

Director required to manage high profile construction projects in the Washington DC area.

Your new company :

Hays have exclusively partnered with a globally renowned institution in the Washington DC who are looking to hire a Director to lead their exciting pipeline of major projects, $100M - $350M in the local area. My client is interested in engaging with construction professionals with 10+ years GC or CM side experience in a managerial capacity who are looking for career advancement and the opportunity to work on high profile projects.

Your new role:

As a Construction Director you will take lead on the design and construction of major $100M+ projects that the organization have in their pipeline. This will include developing the design alongside the internal architects, seeing the project through preconstruction, and estimating, soliciting the general contractors as well as overseeing contracts, scope of work and schedules. You will also be responsible for the entire financials of your project, including developing and delivering on the budget you put together with your senior and wider real estate team.

All projects you complete will be handed over to an internal real estate and facilities team, so you need to be able foster deep, close working relations with the entire internal team associated with the project. This is a leadership position, you need to passion about managing and leading others, most notably project managers in your day to day role. You will responsible for the training and development of the peers on your projects.

What you'll need to succeed:

A necessity to be successful in this role is to have at least 10+ years of experience in Commercial Construction either on the general contracting side or working directly for a consultancy firm and/or end user/client. You will demonstrate strong communication and team building skills, excellent organizational skills and be able to work well under pressure.

The projects you will be working on are significant, large build developments in the $100M - $350M range so relate experience is required. Your attention to detail will see you managing quality and risk on this project to ensure a high level of satisfaction from your client. A bachelors degree is required, my client would like to see at least a bachelors in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or other design related discipline preferred.
