The Benefits and HRIS Administrator/Manager is responsible for administering Learning Without Tears (LWT) benefits and managing human resources information systems, in addition to providing support for compensation, compliance, employee programs, and training. The Benefits and HRIS Administrator/Manager also supervises the daily activities of human resources and facilities staff.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Administer all benefit programs including group health, life and AD&D, disability, flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA), workers' compensation insurance, and supplemental coverage. Ensures timely and accurate recording of enrollments and changes of eligible employees into HR and benefit administration systems.
- Manage benefits open enrollment working closely with the benefit broker on renewal negotiations, utilizing research and providing recommendations to implement improvements in offered coverage.
- Administer 401(k) plan, serving as liaison between LWT, employees, and third-party administrator and facilitating 401(k) committee meetings.
- Responsible for HR systems, including applicant tracking, benefits administration, time tracking, performance management, workflow, document storage, reporting, and other HR applications, including data accuracy, system set up and integrations.
- Assist employees with benefit related questions, including enrollment questions, claims procedures, billing discrepancies, and information regarding employee benefits and leaves of absence, ensuring that related policies and procedures are being adhered to and maintained.
- Conduct monthly benefit invoice audits to ensure billing and enrollment accuracy across all lines of coverage.
- Manage leaves of absence requests, including paperwork and documentation and ensuring timely payment of employees on paid disability leaves
- Assure compliance with COBRA guidelines by entering appropriate and timely information into benefit administration system.
- Provide assistance to employee and management requests on inquiries pertaining to employment, benefits, policies and procedures, and various human resources and LWT programs .
- Review incoming documents for adherence to established policies and procedures, including completeness of information and appropriate signatures. Enter information into HR systems with attention to accuracy and time deadlines. Generate and create reports as required.
- Manage employee records and retention to ensure collection, processing and storage meet federal, state and local legal requirements and LWT policies and procedures, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Compile data, prepare and submit reports for compliance, including EEO, OSHA, and ACA.
- Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Ensure completion and accuracy of new hire onboarding information
- Under Human Resources Director & VP direction, support, consult, and guide management on employee relation issues. Provide input and assist with solution development for solving employee relations issues.
- Under Human Resources Director & VP direction , serve as an employee advocate, coaching and counseling employees on performance related issues, listening to employee concerns and feedback, interpreting and communicating company policies, investigating any potential violations of EEO laws, and gathering information in order to ensure timely a resolution.
- Provide support to HR team, as needed, for recruitment and onboarding, including sourcing, interviewing, and recommending qualified candidates for open positions, following established process and conducting new hire orientation.
- Assist with training for staff on processes and HR systems and employee programs.
- Assist in creating or reviewing company communication
- Train, motivate, evaluate, and supervise staff to ensure employees receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established objectives.
- B.A. or B.S. in Human Resources, Business, or other related field.
- 4+ years related experience in human resources, benefits administration, and/or HRIS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple projects at once while completing quality work on a timely basis.
- Supervisory experience preferred or ability to coach/train others to enhance skills.
- Experience and comfort working with sensitive & confidential information; exceptional ethics and judgment.
- Ability to work both independently and with a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with co-workers, vendors, and agencies.
- Strong decision-making skills.
- Expertise with MS Office, experience with HRIS software preferred.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to travel approximately 5% of working time.
