Job description

Our partner is hiring a Communications Specialist to join their Diplomacy and International Development team. The successful candidate will work as a member of the engagement team providing the day to day support for a government Communications program.

The ideal candidates will have previous experience providing Strategic Communications support for government communications initiatives. The location is Washington, DC and is Metro accessible.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Design and execute comprehensive communications strategies and campaigns, including drafting written communications, to engage client staff with tools, resources, and activities
* Facilitate working sessions, pre-briefings to leadership, draft and/or review documents and supporting materials
* Support interagency meetings including preparation of meeting materials
* Communicate messages to leadership and other stakeholders
* Interacts with multiple project team members and client personnel at various organizational levels and incorporates technical information gathered
* Supports the development and production of a variety of documents focused on communicating information to a Federal government acquisition community
* Prepares agendas, transcribes meeting notes, tracks necessary information, and creates reports and meeting minutes.

Requirements

* Active Secret Clearance
* Bachelor's Degree
* Three (3) years of experience planning, executing expert communications strategies, efforts and products for a major government program
* Experience coordinating efforts within a team of communications professionals, including writers; graphic designers; event planners
* Experience in the creation of communications products of multiple kinds including speeches/talking points, news and feature articles, newsletters, briefings, fact sheets, other graphical material (posters, brochures, charts and graphs, etc.).
* Experience and expertise in one or more of the following Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Microsoft Publisher or Adobe Illustrator
* Excellent writing skills

* Demonstrates knowledge of writing, editing, and style guidelines and printing regulations of the Government Printing Office
* Possesses a great attention to detail and effective time management skills.
* Interacts with various levels of the project team and client
